Actually, as of today, it makes more sense for the Jackets to go for a rental than the Caps. If the Caps go for a rental it has to be Miller... - Habsody
The point was that Washington wouldn't trade him. I said that. And it wouldn't work with the # of players on the Caps roster and they would need Buffalo to eat some Miller's cap hit. |

It's not far fetched that the Sabres would. Neuvirth and a first has been speculated for a while.

Some of these players are ridiculous. The Flyers wouldn't trade Simmonds to the Rangers for Callahan and a 1st round pick let alone Callahan alone.
Why do the Rangers think they can get huge value for him? No team is going to trade a top six forward for a worse top 6 forward who is due to cash in on a huge deal. - PhillySportsGuy
Simmonds has played 426 games and has 100 goals and 116 assists
Callahan has played 447 games and has 132 goals and 121 assists.
You think Simmonds is that much better???? Cally and a 1st would be no deal?
The only advantage Simmonds has over Callahan is a favorable cap hit.

In most cases rumors don't amount to much. But Esiason has been deadly accurate on several moves made by the Rangers, before they were completed.
Whoever his inside source is seems to have a good grasp on what goes on in Rangerland. One of the clues given was that this unknown player played in Sochi.
Based on that, under your assumption, that leaves Semin, Ruutu or Faulk.
Esiason also said that this player will immediately play on the Rangers first line; that automatically leaves it down to Semin.
I don't think this is the deal. - MidnightMarauder
First off the Alfredsson roomers make no sense to me, none!
St Louis also not much, Tampa is a contender now if Stamkos is back to 100% by playoffs unless we're talking both Ryans going back the other way
Could be Ruutu + or Semin or even a blockbuster for Skinner. Both the Rangers and Carolina are in similar positions of non rebuilding teams who haven't quite met expectations and want to win sooner rather than later.

And Simmonds lacks the willingness to lay out in front of a slapshot already down 4-0 or fight a guy twice his size. |

Not a chance. I feel confident the rangers will resign girardi. Kadri has been frustrating for you guys with his on and off play, Gardiner is another MDZ for us and Kulemin is an UFA . . . U don't trade your captain and top 2 defenseman for scraps like that - nyrangers9479
Clearly you don't watch the Leafs often...
Kadri isn't frustrating, the media expects him to be a stud #1 centre...and he's not there so everyone poops on him...he was basically PPG player last year, and has 41pts in 56games this year...all while being only 23...
Gardiner is a young puck moving d-man who has been playing tons of minutes...IMO, he is much better than MDZ...
And keep in mind, your captain and Girardi are both UFA's too no?
As a Leafs fan, I think this is overpayment...and you think these guys are scraps, lol... |

kadri is a good young player but he's been inconsistent this year and struggles defensively. good upside though, and i would not be opposed to trading for him at all.
gardiner doesn't interest me at all. i just don't see him ever surpassing mcdonagh or staal on the depth chart and our defense is very solid now since we traded MDZ. we have no need for gardiner. |

i think ruutu fits the bill outside of the contract length. - rangerdanger94
I go back to his original tweet where Boomer says its gonna be "surprising, shocking and huge" To me Ruutu isn't a huge trade. Out of all the players discussed so far, only a Marty St. Louis trade or maybe a blockbuster with a rival like the Flyers would warrant huge to me. |

St. Louis isn't going to be traded. He would have to waive his NMC. Other than Nash, how many "Star" players waive them? |

gaborik, iginla, jagr, loui eriksson come to mind within the past couple of years. i think a star player would waive their NMC or NTC as long as they weren't being moved into a rebuild...it's just that making trades in the NHL is rare and it's even rarer for a star player to even be discussed. why would a player want to stay in an organization when they know management tried to trade him? |

st. louis just doesn't make sense to me. no idea why tampa would try to trade him. he does fit the criteria a bit though, but it just doesn't make sense in terms of a hockey trade. |

Which is why a blockbuster trade just seems unlikely using Boomers clues. Maybe a trade does happen. But not sure it can follow all of "his requirements" lol |

Gaborik was in Torts dog house. Flames sucked, Iggy wanted to win, Jagr wanted to win last year. Loui Erkisson wanted to win this year. Same thing with Nash. Losing breeds discontent. St. Louis loves it in Tampa The fans love him. Stamkos is coming back. The Rangers have about as good a chance at getting Buffalo to trade the up coming 1st overall pick as they at getting Tampa to give up MSL. |

I actually think Boomer Esiason tweeted all that crap and yes it's crap, to get his shower a bit of spike in the numbers. None of what he said made any sense. It's all coded. |

i agree that st. louis won't waive his NMC. i'm just saying that stars do tend to waive their clauses when approached more often than people realize.
i see no reason why st. louis would waive though. he's spent the majority of his career in tampa and is excelling under the current coach even WITHOUT stamkos. he's old and close to retiring and i see no reason he would waive to uproot his life. going further than that, i just don't see why tampa would trade st. louis for cally. |

well boomer never straight up says it's going to be a blockbuster. he did say it would be huge and shocking but i think any trade involving cally would be considered huge whether it involved a marquee player coming back or not. |

Part of me thinks the opposite. With all the rumors flying around the past month or so, trading Callahan doesn't seem so shocking anymore. Just seems inevitable almost |

It actually can't happen soon enough. I'm so tired of this discussion now. Nothing really to do with you TPC.
It's time for both sides to just part ways. Get the most for him and move on. |
