Explain the contracts given to Carle, Ohlund etc. Thank you for reiterating that we won't be getting St.Louis. Most of us already believe that. Every GM makes mistake. - tomburton99
carles contract was actually market value for a top fa dman, and the top dmen on thw market always rake more. wideman is another example of that. any dman going to fa is going to get paid.
the same reason girardi keeps testing sather for dollars. he knows he can get 5.5+ per on the open market
yzerman isnt dumb enough to give callahan 6+ per long term, he also isnt agreeing to callahan as the return in the hopes cally extends with them AND brings down his huge asking price |

meh we all need to stop talking in absolutes. who knows what yzerman is willing and isn't willing to give cally? this is all speculation and anything is possible, even if a lot of things are highly unlikely. |

plot twist: st. louis demanded a trade once the original team canada roster was announced and he realized he didn't make the team - rangerdanger94
Ohhh. Is this confirmed? I wonder if he still feels any ill will. If this happens then the Rangers will have stepped in poop. Still would rather keep Callahan but StL is still producing. It would fit the bill as a shocker. That's for sure |

Nah I think it's gonna Callahan for St. Louis straight up. Than Cally will walk and Yzerman will be holding the leaky bag.

Another name I have heard is Purcell, who has two years after this one left at $4.5 mil. With Stamkos coming back, he is likely out of the top-six and his role is up in the air. Purcell had a great 2011-12 but has regressed since then and it's possible he was a product of playing with Vinny L. I like Purcell, but if he is the return, would rather they keep Cally, as he is not really a scorer anymore and clearly not a grit player. |

I'm not saying he would wave his NMC but, I'm giving reasons why he might to the Rangers. He does seen loyal to TB but he is loyal to his wife too. You never know, chance to play where he makes his offseason home , I would imagine his wife and kids live up here, it is a chance to play in NYC. I mean does Tampa have a better chance at winning the cup than the Rangers do? If it they are better than the Rangers it's not by that much. Don't sleep on this one. - Blueshirts4ever
Definitely not out of the realm to see it go down |

Makes it sound like the Rangers have been calling about St. Louis, but Yzerman won't budge. - TPC

So basically the Rangers are going to start over. Trading Callahan, trading Girardi and might as well amnesty Brad Richards. |

If they are, why give Hank that massive contract? Just seems odd. I can see Callahan getting dealt. Still think Girardi comes back. |

I agree with you. I think Cally gets dealt and Girardi re-signs, unless someone totally blows the away which is always a possibility. I agree with what was said earlier, however, about Cally getting a final offer to consider before the Rangers pull the trigger. |

Yea a team could get desperate at the deadline and send a nice offer for Girardi. Was hoping all of these would be decided soon, but it all might go right down to the last minutes. |
