once the deadline passes and we get past the rumours, and whatever trades happen, it's going to turn into non stop speculating about whether or not Richards will be bought out and it won't stop until the buyout period is over. - jimbro83
There will always be something but at least the season will be over and the team has a chance to look much different next season doesn't it? |

So, has it been established that Boomer is a bust, with this whole MSL business?
Eh, who the hell knows, what is leaked and what isn't leaked is very measured. Boomer knows he built up some credibility b/c of recent move that he more or less told fans would take place and I'm sure he has a source on the inside that has said something but these things break down fast.
So how about a little hockey, anyone here think that calling up Miller is the better way to handle Zuccarello's absence? I'd rather see AV make a call between Dorsett and Carcillo and let Miller play in the top six. |

On the rumors that St. Louis may have asked for a trade when he was left of Team Canada by his own GM, if I were a Lightning fan, I would be very unhappy about that. Sure, you can say that St. Louis should be the bigger person about it, but at the same time, I can see why it would create problems when your own GM, who has watched you carry that team on its back at times, would leave you off the National team for the second time. How do you look at your GM the same way? It's just human nature that you wouldn't have the same respect or affection for that person.
Also, I can't imagine that the Lightning owner would be happy with discord being sowed within his team for an event that has nothing to do with the Lightning. |

New found Rangers leverage? Does it become an issue of respecting the player's wishes? I bet the Rangers are part of a very short list of teams he'd ok a trade to.They certainly don't have to bc he is under contract. |

If the Rangers ultimately get Martin St. Louis, Boomer will not be a bust.
I definitely believe that this was discussed between the two teams.
I just don't understand why Tampa would do it. |

It doesn't make sense does it? What else would the Rangers have to include, I think if it happens more pieces will have to be involved. |

Sure, if he wants to be traded, then you have to make a call whether you are going to honor those wishes, or keep him. But, I don't see how trading him for Ryan Callahan makes much sense unless you have a deal in place to sign Callahan long-term, which I guess is always a possibility.
But, have to be honest, if I were a Tampa fan I would be irate at Yzerman for creating this issue. Makes you wonder whether there is a conflict of interest with existing NHL GMs, also serving as the GMs for the Olympic teams. You can either be bias to your own players, or suffer the wrath of the player if you decide to leave him off the team. |

It really makes no sense for Tampa, unless they have a deal to Callahan re-signed before the trade is made. As a rental acquisition, it would make absolutely no sense, unless the Rangers were sending more back. |

This proposed trade would be fantastic for the Rangers and almost senseless for the Lightning, except they would be contenders in the east for sure with Stamkos coming back and Ryan Callahan in their lineup.
But, I think the Rangers would have to give more for it to happen |

people just want to kill boomer because, well, he's boomer.
he is an established celebrity around here and not thought of as an insider to really anyone outside a smaller group of ranger fans.
anyone outside the metro area just see's him as the cbs pre game show guy.
i dont see why boomer would even float it if it wasnt true or didnt happen at some point. maybe he got excited, we're all guilty of that on here sometimes lol |

Just another very good reason for the NHL to say goodbye to the Olympics.

It doesn't make sense but if they respect his wishes and MSL says and btw, the only team I will OK a trade to is the NYR, how much better can Yzerman do? |

if that's the case and MSL insists on a trade to the Rangers, then yeah, I would agree

I have to say, if the Rangers were able to make that trade happen, I would definetely be very intrigued about their chances this year. They would still need some size, but all of a sudden, the team would be dangerous offensively.

Sather will certainly do no better for Callahan. Boomer has done him no favors by putting this out there, as the Bolts demands just went up since he first heard about the deal. |

It does make all the sense in the world for St. Louis, its home, his wife is from here, his kids go to school here, his best friend plays here and it looks like BR is going to be here for a while and the prospect of winning a cup in NY has to be a challenge he'd relish. I am one of the few that thinks it actually makes sense if he could get here, but its hard to wrap your brain around why Tampa would do this. |

If you read Boomer this morning, he certaintly isn't backing off this thing. Basically, says it will happen unless someone gets cold feet. He's definetely all in on this one. |

The bigger picture here is St. Louis cap hit will be reasonable which would probably mean re-signing Girardi and their other RFA's and a long-term deal for Staal here in the not so distant future |

Ok, so what's the added piece that makes Stevie Y want to pull the trigger? I guess we roundup the usual suspects. 1st round draft pick? JT Miller? |

He keeps saying it will be a one-for-one deal with the maybe the Lightning throwing in a conditional pick if Callahan re-signs. Again, this really makes no sense to me, but that's what he's saying. |

That can only mean MSL has told the front office he wants out, and wants out badly. On even terms, that deal makes no sense the Bolts unless are sure the can and want to resign Cally. |

He is insisting its going to happen too. No back off and insisting on the one for one deal. Maybe is the Tampa ownership saying to do it b/c of the bad blood that has clearly emerged bc of the Team Canada thing. Here is a question, why does USA hockey and Team Canada hire NHL GM's to pick the team? They can't find people not tied to an organization to do it to take that nonsense out? |

no way. Not a chance I would do it with either of those options added.
2nd round pick maybe plus Callahan, but I am not giving up JT Miller's entire career for a year plus 20 games of Martin St. Louis.
