Well there you go but I have a hard time thinking its Callahan for some if the names being mentioned with the exception of St. Louis. I think it does make sense bc it makes sense for both sides. I think Marty has a lot of ties in the area besides BR he is a winner he slots right onto Richards flank and gives them a boost on the 2nd PP unit. - Blueshirts4ever
Apparently Boomer also did say the player is not signed to a long term deal. With all of these hints hes throwing out, its like he is playing a game haha |

That would be the absolute worst possible deal in hockey history. Especially with both players still going UFA. - SameOld
Now way the Rangers would want them. |

Pacioretty for Callahan?
cmon Jan
and Boomer is a clown. why the hell would he give all these (frank)ing "clues" about the player and the team but not just come out and say who it is?
what a complete joke - Crimsoninja[/quote]
Kind of like the Flyers, right Christian? |

Well that's a matter of opinion. Marchand is a better hockey player than Girardi but maybe a team like the Bruins value that stay at home defenseman more. Probably not though. - SameOld
Not so sure about that. Girardi is a shut down top pair defenseman who is a eighty shot. Guys like Marchand are a dime a dozen. There is a reason why Girardi isn't going anywhere and at the expense of Callahan it appears anyway. |

I have a feeling it's either Toronto or Detroit. - OLDSCHOOL#6
But what would Toronto even offer for a half year of Callanhan. They're obviously not trading Gards for him. The only thing I can possibly think of is Kuli and some draft pick but I doubt Rangers have any interest in another rental. |

Boomer did also say this morning that the player was playing in Sochi...so that should narrow down speculation if the rumor is true. - TPC Ok so its not ottawa ,we arent trading EK and Michalek has little value

Unfortunately guys like Marchand are not a dime a dozen, not even close. poop disturbers are a dime a dozen. poop disturbers with skill who do everything you want are nowhere to be found. |

I gave names that could make sense based on the information Boomer said. Never stated it was a fact. Plus, in the case of Pacioretty, he was rumored to be on the block earlier this year. In this case, it's trying to use the information to determine who it could be not that it will be.
Why is Boomer a clown? As I stated, did basically break two stories, is well-connected in NY and has a history with the Rangers based on his fandom and ownership of season tickets. So is it a stretch to think he has some people inside the organization he gets info from? |

I disagree with you on that. I think there are fewer players like Girardi versus guys like Marchand. I think Marchand is a good player but DG is more valuable to most teams than a guy like Marchand. Just my opinion. |

Yup that's fair. Definitely no right or wrong answer as the guys play different positions. Both are very valuable. |

anyone who is cryptic like that is full of crap, im sorry.
"the team is in the east"
"90% done"
etc
are we supposed to believe he knows the team and the potential deal but he is just deciding not to share it? |

no, he's setting himself for an easy way out by being vague and not naming the team/deal |

Agree! The guy is an irritant with 25 goal hands, dime a dozen?
Why would anyone give up a solid player, who is signed, (Simmonds, St. Louis, Pacioretty, Ryan, etc)for a rental?? (Even though Marty is old, I'm not giving him away for nothing). Edit, ok, not for nothing, but 1/2 a season.
I love both Callahan and Girardi, but at the risk of either not signing after the trade, and going back to NY in the summer? |

And much of it really does have to do with a particular teams needs and of course $$$. |
