If that rumour is true then shame on Marty. St Louis is a future HOF and a class-act through and through, but demanding a trade because you didn't make a team is childish. Hopefully it's not true.

It just can't happen, there is no benefit for Tampa to trade St.Louis for Callahan who is less talented and a UFA. Even if the deal included a conditional 1st in 2015 if he walks the deal is still bad.

Only way it would work IMO is if the Rangers offered Callahan, a top prospect, and a conditional 2015 1st (if Callahan doesn't re-sign) for St.Louis and a conditional 2014 pick depending on playoff success (1st for Cup, 2nd for a conference final appearance, nothing otherwise or something like that)

It's well known a team was given permission to talk to Callahan's agent. If that was Yzerman, it could be an extension is agreed to in principle, and a MSL for Callahan deal is planned, it's just not with Callahan as a rental.

I'm not saying I think that is true, but it is entirely plausible.

I love MSL the player. But you are correct. Sometimes you don't want to believe what goes on behind the scenes. I cant see that he would demand a trade based on not getting named to TC. But I also couldn't believe when he was whining about Omarks spinorama shoot out goal when he has made far more similar attempts at flashy shootout moves. He also made some comments during the lockout that I wasn't fond of.

Clare Austin said it best last night. Yes, the Lightning owe Marty. But Marty owes it to his teammates to finish what he started this season, regardless of the Team Canada snub.

Canada could put two team togethers that could win gold medals. Others get votes in who they want it's not all on yzerman to pick players for canada. The same goes in tampa al murry and his scouting staff draft are players not yzerman. Every one gets a say that's how yzerman runs his teams he has mettings and listens to his staff on players to draft or sign in FA also players to trade for.

If he leaves, he will leave a lot of fans here with broken hearts. If he requested a trade then so be it, but it won't be for someone like Callahan....

As for me, I don't believe he wants out of Tampa Bay. Is he still upset over 2010 and the first time in 2014? Yes. Is he going to punish the fan base that has supported him and screamed his name for the top of the lungs over and over and over again for the better part of 14 years? No. Marty is a man of integrality, passion and loyalty, so I believe these rumors are just that, rumors.
