I don't think he'd wave his NTC.
I don't see why the Flyers would trade their best defenseman if they are in position to make the playoffs. You just don't do things like that regardless of how unlikely the team is to reach a Cup. - PhillySportsGuy
I think he would wave his NTC. But I agree it's not likely they will trade him. The Devils defense core of two years ago wasn't much better than the Flyers core if at all. The difference is the Devils forwards were much more committed in their own end. |

I think Timonen is going to want to ride this out, and finish what he started. That seems to be the kind of guy he is. The only way the Flyers would even think of trading Timonen, is if he went to the Flyers and said he wanted out. But I don't see that happening.

Not sure if next Wednesday is going to be exciting or not. Might be a whole lot of nothing. - PLindbergh31
Think a number of well-considered, well-crafted trades could happen well in advance of the deadline... don't think there will be as much last-second impulse shopping going on just due to the money-in/money-out restrictions on most teams. I suspect the TDL show's gonna be hilariously boring.

Still time for the Flyers to shore that up and commit to the team game.

Detroit crippled by injuries would seem unlikely.
Since Anaheim and Chicago will be drafting at the end of the first round perhaps it would entice them.

Anaheim makes the most sense. They could use a veteran, top 4 dman, Kimmo has friends on the team, the team is very talented and has a much better shot at the Cup than the Flyers.
Again, I don't see it happening. |

Even if Kimmo didn't have one, the team isn't going to send him somewhere without his consent. He's done a lot for this franchise and has earned the right to decide what he wants to do in his final season. - PhillySportsGuy
Yep, this.
If he wanted to go to Anaheim to play with Teemu in the playoffs, I'd have zero issue with that as a Flyers fan who understands that Kimmo will not be here when this franchise is truly ready to contend again. |

I think you're right. Too many teams still in the hunt. And not enough breathing room under the Cap for a lot of teams due to the artificially lowered upper limit. Maybe more even trades then playoff rentals.

Its a moot point. Kimmo is finishing this year with the Flyers. You can take that to the bank. |

How about watching JVR when he was in Philly? Did the fans ever complain about him? Did the Coach ever state that he needs pick up his game? Any of that happen in Philly when JVR was here? Any inconsistency in JVR's play at all while he was in Philly? How about what was said before he even played one game as a Flyer? - MJL
Inconsistencies ...yup.....he was here three years....one filled with injuries.....any young new player is going to have that....what's Schenn's excuse this is year 6.... And so we are on the same page JVR was also better last year as well although the separation wasn't as great.
One player has blossomed into a solid 30 goal scorer ....one guy is up and down like a toilet seat that we hope gets better...sounds even to me.

Anaheim makes a ton of sense, Chicago even more-except they'd have to clear a ton of cash to fit him in under cap. Detroit faces similar cap issues and they are struggling
Boston might have a spot, with Seidenberg out, only need to clear a bit of room. - Jsaquella
Not saying he would/should, only that there are places that almost any hockey player would love to go, given the choice.
As far as the Flyers are concerned, I doubt they'll be looking to trade Kimmo for futures... they're too close atm to even consider it. Only way it happens if a team wants to gift them a younger NHL dman in return. |

Ah MJL, answers questions by asking 100 of his own. Meanwhile, everyone and their mothers has agreed that the trade was a poor one by Homer.

I think we'll see several unspectacular moves. 4th line players and depth defenseman. I just don't see big moves happening. Wouldn't be surprised to see MacDonald, Vanek and Moulson as the major names moving. |

I agree. I would talk to him and say, if you want a better chance to finish with a champion, you let me know and I'll get a deal done for you. If he shot it down, I'd drop the matter entirely.
While a good return would be fantastic, I wouldn't present Timonen with a fait accompli. Because honestly, I like him around the young guys as a leader and role model. It's not a bad thing if he stays. |

Well of we just want to look at the trade right now and in a fantasy world somehow believe that it's a fact that Schenn will never get better, and JVR will continue to be a star forward, well then I guess it's a bad trade.
Bottom line, at the time of the trade, JVR was just as inconsistent as Schenn was. |

No, we should feel bad for them. They got an all expenses paid trip to see the Winter Games. I mean, that has to really suck!
I enjoy their suffering. |

I like the NHL competing in the Olympics, this tourney was a snoozefest however.
The most exciting game was Canada/Latvia. Game was tied with 6 minutes left. I wonder if Latvia pulled that off if it would have been considered a bigger upset than 1980 |

Schenn will develop when he's 35. Perfect age for the Flyers to lock him up. |

I'd be floored if they were even considering it. They're gonna look at the playoff race, the 29-16-6 record after a 1-7 start and they'll be buying. Hopefully not recklessly, but they'll be looking to buy. They might walk away empty handed, but they'll be at the damned store and only head to the swap meet if they lose out heading into the TDL |

That Latvian goalie stood on his head. Canada outshot them 57-16. I think the Latvian goaltender plays in the AHL if I'm not mistaken. |
