No, we should feel bad for them. They got an all expenses paid trip to see the Winter Games. I mean, that has to really suck!

I enjoy their suffering.

I know. Complaining about a trip millions of people would kill to go to on. Sorry for the convenience.

Schenn will develop when he's 35. Perfect age for the Flyers to lock him up.

- PLindbergh31

Yeah, he'll be an awesome fully developed 3rd pairing shut down d-man.

I dislike the Schenns. Unsure if it's because I think they're both crap, or if it's because of the endless debates on here about them. I find it easier to just wish both are traded and never seen from again.

I like the NHL competing in the Olympics, this tourney was a snoozefest however.

The most exciting game was Canada/Latvia. Game was tied with 6 minutes left. I wonder if Latvia pulled that off if it would have been considered a bigger upset than 1980

- PLindbergh31

No. Latvia was not expected to play Canada that close, but they were still a team of professionals, going against an all star team that had been together for a couple weeks.

The US team was pure amateurs going against an all star team that was more than that. They were an all star team that had played together for years.

Well of we just want to look at the trade right now and in a fantasy world somehow believe that it's a fact that Schenn will never get better, and JVR will continue to be a star forward, well then I guess it's a bad trade.
Bottom line, at the time of the trade, JVR was just as inconsistent as Schenn was.

- MJL

Not fantasy world ....can tell by watching both guys play....one is blossoming one is not....but he might...so I guess we have that.

I think we'll see several unspectacular moves. 4th line players and depth defenseman. I just don't see big moves happening. Wouldn't be surprised to see MacDonald, Vanek and Moulson as the major names moving.
- PhillySportsGuy

I'm steeling myself for some mind-blowing, big-name for big-name, OMGWTFBBQ kind of moves in the next few days... Callahan for St. Louis kind of madness.

They were shocked that Russia was a pile of crap. Like we haven't been screaming in their faces about Communism and it's affects on the people and their country.

Mind boggling. It's like people who go to the Bahama's and think its a tropical paradise. No, it's a third world country where tourists are regularly mugged and/or raped and drug dealers are on every street corner on the entire island.

If that happens, I'll be so mad at the Lightning.

How can the Rangers deal Callahan and Girardi for lesser players when they are likely to make the playoffs?

Yes agreed, but the talent gap between Canada and Latvia may have even been greater than the Soviet Red Army team and the US amateurs.

Although didn't that Soviet team win 7 of 8 games against NHL teams prior to those Olympics? I thought I saw that somewhere.

I'd be floored if they were even considering it. They're gonna look at the playoff race, the 29-16-6 record after a 1-7 start and they'll be buying. Hopefully not recklessly, but they'll be looking to buy. They might walk away empty handed, but they'll be at the damned store and only head to the swap meet if they lose out heading into the TDL

Sbisa for Kimmo... think the Flyers would do that, present standings considered?

Hell, I wouldn't mind Ek actually posting some rumors. He's really been half-assing this poop for 2 years now. He writes a fluff piece on why their should be 3 point games that winds up being 9,000 words long, but his rumor blogs are 9 words copy and pasted from a previous rumor blog.

At least it was an experience. I would put up with the bullpoop in order to watch olympic hockey games live and cover them.

I don't dislike them. I like B. Schenn, I think he's developing nicely. I just want to see more consistency out of L. Schenn. Some nights he plays very well. And some nights he looks lost. When you don't have an offensive game, you have to be consistent to be effective.

Don't forget those Soviet teams were not only together for long periods of time, but that was the Soviet Union....not just Russia. That encompassed countries like Latvia, Lithuania, etc. They had a much larger talent pool to draw from.

No. Ask Ducks fans how they feel about Sbisa. They would drive him to the airport if we offered that.

The Ducks have 8 million in cap room. They'll probably offer picks and absolutely stack their roster.

Yes they would, IMO.

If Homer wasn't the GM when they drafted Sbisa, he was certainly the Asst GM and probably feels like he knows what he's getting.

I'm counting the seconds to the day they're both off the team. Hopefully packaged together this TDL for some stud d-man.

Hehe yeah, that's why I thought his name was plausible. Just wondering if it would tickle Homer's fancy... former Flyer pick... so tempting.

That's true. Unlike teams in the Olympics now who have a few practices prior to the Olympics, the Soviet team played together all the time. That can't be understated.

Their fans almost love hating on him as much as our fans love hating on Luke Schenn.
