Strange, Vinny, St. Louis, Richards, Prospal, Gaborik all put up a ton of points playing under Torts. - Tomahawk
Hes not a bad fundamental coach. I think he just wears his players down because he criticizes them in front of the media. |

A lot of what we think about Torts is tinged by his time in NY, where outside of Gaborik, he really didn't have much to work with offensively. Aside from Zuccarrello, there's not a single Rangers forward that's improved offensively this season with Torts gone -- some guys like Nash and Stepan have seen their numbers drop off a cliff.
He asks his stars to do all the 'little things'... he doesn't ask them to stop creating offense. |

Hes not a bad coach, but don't be surprised if his shelf life lasts 3 years. |

I think he asks his defenseman to play a much different game, which could effect guys like Edler. A lot of his teams point come from turn-overs and not as much generating goals by offensive possesion and movement from the point. Which could hamper offensive guys like Edler. Cant really think of any defenseman that had stellar offensive production on a Torts team outside of Staal. |

Boyle, Del Zotto.
edit: laught
edit2: guys like Staal and Girardi who weren't the most natural point producers did well under him. McDonagh and Ranger blossomed under him. Kuba was good under him too. |

Holy Cow, Bill! You pulled every string you had to get all those Flyers greats to go to a fundraiser for a Jewish K-8 school! What the heck kind of K-8 would have even one of those guys show up? I hope that faculty is thanking you.

Seems like the Flyers are going to give Timonen the game against SJ off tomorrow night. He's practicing on the 4th pairing today. |

Bill,
I was looking for young defensemen for the Flyers to possibly trade for. Edler from Vancouver would make sense. If the Flyers offered B. Schenn do you think that would get it done? Would you make a trade that involved B. Schenn for Edler?
I think the Flyers would need to add something else. Schenn is an RFA so the Canucks control his rights. Edler is signed to an appropriate contract for the next 4 years. I imagine it would take at least an additional 1st round pick for the Flyers to get it done. - mickel25
I would rather try and trade for Myers or Maatta.....the asking price would be alot lower, maybe Laughton+ |

Not for Maata. He's a 19 year old top 4, two-way defenseman. |

There is 0% chance that the Penguins trade Maatta to us, unless he becomes some sort of plague carrier. |

If Downie and Lecavalier don't come out flying tomorrow night after a 2.5 week break, they will be shells of themselves the rest of the season in all probability. |

There's no possibility that there can be some rust after not playing for a while? Sometimes it takes players a period or so to get their legs. What if other players don't come out flying, what will their issue be? |

I think it would be prudent to trade him. I don't think it will happen. He played 6 games in Sochi, combined with travel. Although the last game he played will be the easiest he plays all year. |
