what of value are you guys giving up though? - stayinthefnnet
Nothing. The Flyers aren't in a buyer or seller mode. They don't have many young assets they can move that won't hurt them, and they're not "one player away" from being a contender. At the same time, they're currently in a playoff spot. Unless they move a guy like Meszaros or get some crazy offer they can't refuse (Shea Weber for Rosehill being the craziest), I don't see them making anything other than a true hockey trade. And I don't think MSL fits long-term here. |

Id like to see them add a 4th liner with some speed. Someone cheap and similar to an Eric Wellwood pre-injury. |

I really wonder what Gagne's up to.
How about Pavel Bure? He's still probably fast as can be. |

The Pens, to me, are a top cotender every year (assuming MAF doesn't crap the bed). If I were them, I'd really consider MSL. I know the both he and Crosby are natural playmakers, but they can both fire the puck. I'd hate to try to stop that line. |

I think Hockey Trade is key here. I can see Homer being very busy at this TDL. Either moving a center for a defenseman, moving some of our d-depth, etc.
I literllay could see a scenerio that Flyers trade Timonen for cap space and land Buff with a few other pick ups and drops... ie Meszaros and a depth forward. |

i dont want another iginla situation. id be a buyer at a first, yet again. but its where the plus starts to come into it where i would probably shrug off. |

I wasnt giving it a high probability, but I wouldnt be shocked to see a series of events that this happens. Homer still has to feel like his butt is on the line, and if he sits still and does nothing again and this team strikes out, i think it will be his head. I think he has to do something to make this team better for the future, without hurting the now... |

MSL is better than Iginila was last year. He's the best player on one of the best teams in the East. He would be much more worth obtaining than Iginla. I think he problem for the Pens is that any move would hurt their future even more.
If you start giving away multiple years of picks, you end up like the Flyers are now. They have some decent prospects for a few years from now, but nothing breaking into the league right now.
It would take a significant amount to get MSL. A roster player + a legit prospect. |

The little additions are usually the best ones. Think of all the moves the Pens made last season and it was Jussi Jokinen who ended up being the best. |

I don't see that happening. Do you think Timonen is going to wave his NTC? He's on a team in playoff position he's spent 8 years with. |

Did you see MSL demanding a trade? I mean Timonen is a smart man, if a team like Anaheim wanted to add him for a playoff run, he might waive to get the cup. |

oh yeah. its worrisome. i dont even like the idea of losing the first yet again. and those seconds for murray. its rough.
i agree with you. they [imay have the goods to get him i guess, but i dont think it would be worth it. say a first, pouliot, plus? id have to bow out. although i do think he would be a great add, even if he isnt a position of need as much as the bottom 6. |

He might wave for Anaheim. That may be the only team. I just don't think its logical to do all that maneuvering. Im not a big Byfuglien guy to begin with, but if the Flyers want him, they might as well wait for the offseason. Prices will come down, they will have more cap flexibility and know where they plan on drafting. |

If Buff is still there. He might be in NYR by then.
I'm not a propenent for making a move for a big named d-man. i think they should build a solid core of players instead. |
