Actually, this is great news for the future of the Lightning. Let's say they get a 1st rounder + a prospect for St. Louis. In 2-3 years, you'll have Stamkos + Drouin + the return for St. Louis and St. Louis himself will be retired.
It's what should have happened with Sundin and the Leafs a few years ago. |

Wonder what it'd seriously take for Detroit to snag MSL. - YzermanIsTheMan
Id actually laugh if that was his choice of preference to troll yzerman going back to yzermans former team when played |

Somehow the flyers or rangers trade for st louis and trade for the other significant player lecav or richards and then have the trio reunited - DougGilmour_93
I think the Callahan for St.Louis trade is revisited. |

MSL Lecavalier, and Richards as Flyers second line. |

Have it out with Yzerman in private, don't disrupt an entire team who had nothing to do with it because you feel you were mistreated - ImThatGuy

isn't it just possible he wants to go to a cup contending team and he is realistic about tampa? dont get me wrong, as the captain its not the respectful responsible thing to do, sure its selfish, but hes only getting older...
on second thought though hes already won a cup, maybe he just wants to go home to quebec
orrrr maybe hes just pissed at yzerman for not picking him, hes always been pretty classy so its hard to think thats the case, but it sure is coincidental |

I completely understand the point about Yzerman having to do what he believed was best for Team Canada, even if that meant leaving his own guy of the team. However, if I were a Lightning fan, I would be irate at my GM for creating a situation where one of the league's best players now wants out, because of a decision that had absolutely nothing to do with your own club.
I get the point that MSL should be the bigger person in all of this, but I also don't think that comports with reality. The fact of the matter is that these guys have pride, and when your own GM leaves you off the International team, not once but twice, that will undoubtedly create strife. And for what? MSL should have been on the team anyway, in most people's opinions.
If you are going to accept a role which places you in a conflict of interest with your own club, then you better be damn well sure that you are able to handle it without adversely effecting the club that pays you. |

from what i've read, a big reason he asked for the trade was that he was upset he was left off the initial olympic roster.....and if rumours are true, ken holland and mike babcock are a big reason he was left off.
if that's the case, not sure he'd waive to go to detroit. |
|
|
|
Why?
Its warm all year round. The fan support is decent and he is making good money with no state income tax. he also gets to play with one of the best young stars in the game.
Sounds like a great scenario for an aging vet. - ImThatGuy

I have a hard time believing Marty has done something like this and will not believe it until he is actually traded. |
|
|
|
What a joke this whole thing...such a classless move by Marty...Tampa ready to make a huge run for the Cup and the "classy" Martin St. Louis, the captain of the team, asks for a trade all because that little (frank)er was picked last at recess ...walking out on your teammates like that is just gutless. - keatondixon
Agreed what a little female dog MSL is... I did not like him before and definitely dont like him now... Too bad for Tampa- they will be held at ransome.. |

Can either Perry, MSL or Selanne play LW effectively? |

Or San Jose
Doesn't really fit the team mold but (frank) the team mold! This is Marty St. Louis! |
