Mike Gillis would be stupid to deal the little amount of young talent he has for a guy who is nearing retirement. - Michael_Stuart
Yeah, it would take Horvat+ which is a no-no for this team. |

Def no Hovart, but Hunter Shinkaruk can be have, Kesler still has term and would be great for next 2 years, and hovart will be ready....
MSL if anything is going west, no way lightning ships him to pitts/boston 100% not happening.
So logical move is Vancouver maybe Colorado/Stlouis - SensArmy
Yeah, my money is on MSL getting shipped out West to STL or one of the Cali teams. |

Last I checked TB was 3rd in the East and had a legit Vezina candidate in net.
But yeah, keep saying MSl should go to a contender.
If TB isn't a contender this season, especially with Stamkos on his way back, then I guess only Pitt & Boston are contenders from the East. Makes sense since it means the Leafs aren't contenders by that logic.

Talk about butt hurt. I'm assuming he won't allow Tampa to trade him to Detroit, Boston, Edmonton, or St. Louis since Yzerman didn't make any of these decisions alone. People from all of those other teams were part of the decision making that left him off the team too. |

Only teams with assets to make a move and without damaging their team is Vancouver/Anaheim/Colorado, dont see LA having enough....
I say its Colorado/Vancouver or nowhere |

I can see him in ANA... Would be scary

How about Anaheim's first, Kyle Palmieri and Luca Sbisa? Palmieri is young and can skate with Stamkos and Sbisa is a decent d-man with a good cap hit who's an RFA. |

Won't happen. Pens have no cap space unless they move salary in return. |

It can be said for both I guess, but I war refering to St.Louis.
Seems like a lot of politics involved with Yzerman stepping down and now this. |

Do the Pens even have any major needs come the deadline? They seem to be just fine to me. Plus Maatta has been a nice surprise. |

Not enough, would need to be Rakell/first
I see Van doing a move if they make the playoff with a untouched roster+stlouis they are crazy dangerous.
but dont be surprise with Colorado, P.A Parenteu, siemens, first |

They're operating under the impression that Letang is out for the year. Martin is out 4-6 weeks and Beau Bennett has another 3-4 weeks. They could be looking for a bottom 2 D if they don't feel Despres and Bortuzzo can handle it. Their bottom six is pretty terrible as well. |

1st line RW to replace Dupuis. The merry-go-round with AHL'ers isn't working. It's pretty much Sid and Kunitz there. No forward depth. The 3rd line is a mess with only Sutter. The D can survive without Letang and Martin.
Maatta has been a huge surprise. Hopefully he doesn't hit a wall with all the games he has played so far. |

??? The last thing Tampa needs is another center, but I'd do that in a heartbeat. The Ducks give up nothing on their NHL roster and acquire one of the best RW's in the league. |

Given the amount the injuries which I didn't realize...impressive you guys have racked up the amount points you have. |

Vancouver is selling, not buying.
They need help on the second, third and forth line. They lack depth and cap space.
To make matters worse, they lack depth in the prospect pool.
Anaheim could pull it off but there is no way the Canucks are in on any name that's being tossed up here on an E rating. Included in that list is Jagr or Moulson. It is absolutely not happening

The guy was the leading scorer in the league last year and the Olympic GM doesn't pick him up? He's your own player and can't fight for him. Marty should go where he's appreciated. Tampa won't get fair value for him.too bad for Steve Yzerman. He screwed himself over. - kaptaan
This. Can't blame Saint-Louis on this one. |

I agree that they should be selling.
But we're loaded with decent bottom 6 players, it's the top 6 that we need more from. Plus the injuries have made things look worse. Guys like Hansen, Higgins, Santorelli, Richardson are very solid bottom 6 players. But the Canucks have had Hansen, Higgins and Santorelli playing a god majority of the season in the top 6.
This organization's weaknesses is prospect depth(nee more quality prospects with realistic top 6F or top 4D upside) and lack of true top 6 forwards(only the Sedins and Kesler qualify IMO). Hopefully Kassian continues to develop as he has under Torts. |

What if the Sochi thing was just the latest in a line of perceived slights for Marty? He left a lot of money and term on the table after putting up 99pts in 2010-11... there might be some lingering animosity from that negotiation. I'm sure he was also upset about how Vinny was unceremoniously dumped this past summer. And then to have his own GM disrespect him during the selection process and then to barely see the ice when they did take him... after how he carried Tampa on his back all season with Stamkos out... yikes. |
