Not sure the fan base would be able to deal with Marty leaving. Yzerman on the other hand...
Can see both sides of the story and this is probably being blown out of context, but at the end of the day, Tampa sans Marty is a considerably worse team. Might seem short sighted but at this point I would rather fire Yzerman and keep Marty. Trading #26 would have some very severe repercussions, and I'm talking Stamkos potentially reconsidering his future with the team down the road... |

Hey blog big mouths, who have never played a day of hockey in your lives. When your star player goes down, you play your sack off for the Team, and your own GM snubs you for the Olympics, go figure keyboard GM's.
What would you expect him to do ? |

I want to hate him for doing this but I'm not sure I blame him for being so upset. The timing is awful and I wish it were something he brought up in the off season rather than in the middle of a playoff run. If Yzerman gets the right kind of return for him I think most fans we'll get over it pretty quickly.
But overall it's just a bad scenario. I feel for Marty but damn this really isn't how I wanted it to end |

A) You have never played in the NHL either, so your first paragrph is not relevant to his situation.
B) You never finished your thought There should be something between "GM snubs you for the Olympics [...] "go figure keyboard GM's"
C) Suck it up. Dont turn his back on his teammates. |

Is there actually a quote from Marty saying he wants a trade? I looked on the interweb and found nothing.
I mean here's the thing, he's not shy at all about expressing his opinion, see Omark comments. All I see is a few random websites saying reportedly he asks for a trade, and when tsn asks him he says his future is pretty much between steve and him. Here's a crazy thought, referring to his future, could it be possible he's contemplating retirement? |

What did Yzerman do for St.Louis? - NOAH_U
What does a "snubbing" for the olympics have to do with the NHL.
Not even a Snubbing IMO, You take out Kunzitz and i still choose 3-4 players over him.
Why arent Others (Stall, Giroux, Hall ETC) acting childish? Even though St.Louis is supposed to be a leader and a team first guy...
How is that his teammates fault he just royaly screwed over in the middle of a playoff run? |

Not Yzerman, but the guys that look up to him. He just killed this teams spirit and pissed on all us fans. |

I have a hard time believing Marty has done something like this and will not believe it until he is actually traded. - FinAddict
I'm the same way. I have followed his whole career, and I don't believe for a second he's the type of guy to leave and handcuff a team over something like that.
Now, maybe he talked with Yzerman and asked "Are you going to go for it all next season?" and Steve said no, we're going to wait a bit longer for our prospects before we really go all in trade/roster wise to win another cup, and Marty said well, if that's how you feel maybe try and move me because I'm not sure how much longer I will play.
That's the ONLY way I can see this happening.
But, cue the ridiculous prosposals from other teams like Callahan... |

And as a Sens fan who just dealt with the Alfie fiasco, you want your 38 year olds to have these types of convos with the GM. Am I right? |

Tampa Bay is second in the Atlantic, WITHOUT their best player. I highly doubt, in fact I guarantee Yzerman did not say no we are not going to go for it. |

Damn right!
If Alfie and Sens Management had started these talks sooner last year, he may have still been a Sen at the start of the year.
You have to have these convos when you're 38 years old. Period.
I hardly think that "I've had conversations with Steve about my future" is confirmation of a trade request. |

No, no logic in here buddy - you get out of here with that so everyone can keep offering their crappy players in exchange for a legend. |
