It's not in Tampa Bay's best interests to trade their best (healthy) player. It's not in a team's best interest to trade their top talents for a 38-year-old (unless they're making a serious pitch for the cup this year). Marty has to waive his no-trade clause, so as stated, he's going to want to move to a playoff contender close to his home in New York. This isn't in Tampa's interests.
If I'm Stevie, I tell Marty he's not going anywhere. If an apology is in order (Stevie not having the gonads to guarantee Marty's position on the team), make it happen and be men about the whole thing. I imagine the trade request was made a month ago, and odds are it's already blown over in Tampa's camp. |

Well he has been dodging the question saying he wont comment on it ....if he's serious of wanting to stay in tampa he would debuked that rumour a long time ago.
Same with Yzerman. - Alexzanki
the tweets from arthur staple indicate that the trade request was made a month ago and the actual msl quote is "I've had conversations with Steve about my future with the team and I'll leave it at that" |

Wouldn't Steve Y first ask MSL if he is willing to go to any other teams besides the Rangers before he wastes his time talking to teams? Or did he and I'm behind? - GioRock
If MSL wants out I can almost guarantee the rangers are not the only team he would take a trade too. |

But that doesn't confirm it does it?
St. Louis confirmed he has met with Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman, but he did not go into detail about what was discussed during the meeting.
“I’ve had conversations with Steve about my future with the team, and I’ll leave it at that,” St. Louis said, via Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune.

He also plays with the most dynamic sniper in the NHL... Either way he is 38 - saskoil21
He's also proven that he doesn't need the most dynamic sniper in the NHL for a teammate in order to be one of the most productive players. Not too many 38 year old players putting up 4 in game now days... |

And here's the thing, as the captain, who is 38 years old, damn right he will have conversations about his future with the Lightning GM Yzerman. And I know if i was the gm of said player I'd like to know how long he intends to play, and if I don't have those conversations, guess what, you get what happened with the Senators and Alfie. |

Well if I'm Stevie Y, I ask for a decent sized list of teams and tell him that he better give me enough teams that can realistically trade for him if he's the one putting me in a position to have to deal him within a week. It can't be another Iggy situation where it's narrowed down to 2 teams and there isn't much of a bidding war. He's not a rental like Iggy was, but still. |

I hate when players signed to a "Contract" ask to be traded. It's bad for the sport.
Looking at you Danny Heatley you douche bag - Erik6Karlsson5
50% of all marriage contracts end in divorce. It's only natural that it carries over into sports. A contract only holds weight to an honorable man, I suppose. |

But again has St. Louis or Yzerman confirmed it? Three NHL sources, that's a pretty broad brush stroke if you ask me. Are we talking scouts? Rival GMs? Teammates? Certainly not the two people who are in a position to confirm it.
And the proper term is suggested. Not confirmed. |

Yeah I'm sure the habs aren't very happy about that, but it doesn't really matter, Boodai has played well for them. Besides it's not like Price is gonna have the D in front of him that he had in Sochi.
