Steve Yzerman and Marty St. Louis signed a NMC. If Stevie had approached Marty about waiving it, he would be the dishonorable man in this story. Unfortunately for you, Marty asked for the trade. Sure, it is a business, and he has a "right" (or whatever) to ask to be moved. I will give you that, but I still see it as dishonorable. - Craola
Fair enough, agree to disagree I guess... but I still stand by the player 9 out of 10 times. Players usually don't have the leverage in a trade deal and I don't blame one if he decides to take advantage because like I said, owners and Gm's never worry about honor or loyalty when they decide a players time is up. |

Update. There are three teams in the Metro division talking to Tampa about St. Louis. It is no secret he has always wanted to play in NY but the Rangers aren't the only team in New York or within 90 miles of NY.
Why does 90% of rumors concerning big names always have to be tied to your Flyers? Philly is over 2 1/2 hours from his home in Greenwich, CT. Philly is NOT NYC, nor remotely similar.
He may very well end up with the Flyers, but to somehow insinuate that he would consider it because of its geographic location is silly. I see Boston as much more likely- a much easier drive to southern CT than Philly.
Also, I have a hard time believing he would end up in NJ or with the Isles. The Rangers may be a paper tiger, but they are much closer to competing for a Cup then their city neighbors. - session32
IDK MSL loves playing with Stamkos, I am sure he would love playing a full year next season with JT too. ( Although I am sure hes not even on Snows radar.)

That goes both ways...players rarely hand back their salary when they have a terrible season while earning a huge contract. |

Yeah, but that's not the case with this particular situation. I think we're starting to generalize a little bit here.
At the liberty of sounding grandios, Gretzky was traded in his prime and without as much as a say in the deal and I'm quite certain he never had as much as a single game salary let alone an entire season that he felt obligated to give back to Pocklinton. In fact Pocklington and his motivation for moving the best player ever to grace the ice was for non-hockey reasons because he had money troubles in his other business ventures.
So Pocklington basically set the biggest "dishonorable owner" prescedent in sports history when he made "The Trade". |

I noticed your deal got axed and was going to ask what the (frank) was the issue this time. Fosco might have to take that option out cause this is getting dumb. |

Agreed if it really was the reason that he wants a trade because of being liftoff initially then:
1) he needs to grow the (frank) up
2) he needs to earn some humility
3) he needs to grow the (frank) up
4) he needs to grow the (frank) up
5) step off the horse |

You have to tie him with the Flyers bc with his NTM he may want to reunite with Vinny as a team to choose to play for. Adding him to Flyers would make them even more deadlier with scoring - arichardson22
Agreed. Philly would have a filthy offense with MSL.
If Marty really did ask for a trade, what lengths do you think Stevie Y will go to accommodate him. I would assume he wants to get back the best package in return, but with the bad blood there, would it be shocking if he tries to stick it to MSL?
Very curious how this will play out.
