Update. There are three teams in the metro division talking to Tampa about Marty St. Louis. It is no secret he has always wanted to play in NY but the Rangers aren't the only team in New York or within 90 miles of NY.

more to come...

- Eklund

my bet is on the rangers right from the get go

I don't get why he the captain would want a trade when he has been carrying tampa all year and has been the main reason they are third in the East.
- arichardson22

I think you answered your own question. His own GM snubbed him after carrying the team in Stamkos' absence.

Since St. Louis has a NMC, Tampa will accept a trade with Boston and then have to deal him to the Penguins for two college kids and a signed hockey card. (Signed by Mario's assistant)

Not crazy at all. Great player with great leadership too. What would it take? Mez (tampa reunion), hartnell or read, plus a draft pick?
- arichardson22

Hartnell has a lot of value, good contract signed long term.

he has been the best canadian player since the last olympics. id be pissed too if i was left off the roster and my GM was picking the team. dont say size matters. this guy has been almost a point per game player as one of the smallest in the league his whole career. either way id prefer not to see marty go but now would be the best time to move him if we did to get the biggest return.
- boltsfan48

If he gets traded I don't think he will get as big of a return as many people think. In almost all past cases of a player demanding a trade , the return isn't what one would expect. If there are only a few teams that he would go to , Stevie Y will not have a lot of negotiating power. I would look at it somewhat like the Iginla deal. Maybe a decent player plus a 1st.

That was just eklund spinning his wheel of player to a team wheel, no truth to that.
- DDM-Coga

You know, Ek does that a lot, but the Radulov to Colorado rumor is random enough to where there may be some validity to it. I don't expect it to happen, but it's not his traditional "so and so to Montreal, Toronto, NYR, Philly, etc.".

reunion with vinny in the works

This...wouldnt surprise me one bit, he (Marty) has a NMC as well so he picks where he goes.

Sure Roy coached Radulov in Quebec so there is that connection.
But there has been no mention of him wanting to come back to the NHL, he has a long term contract in the KHL anyways.

His name is back in the spot light again bc of the Olympics, so lets toss him into the rumour mill going back to his QMJHL coach.

who gives a sh*t, too many fans put these athletes on self serving pedestals and b*tch and moan when things like this happen
- Flyfreaky

Definitely some validity to that statment... But why not just convey to the media what's going on there instead of letting all the rampant speculation build up. I don't think there's anything wrong for a player to ask to be moved, but I think most fans want to know the particulars as to why.

I mean I get it, sometimes you just don't like who you work for and I'm sure similar instances happen in pro sports as well. Right now though the only info fans and media have to go on is that he's pissed about Yzerman snubbing him for the original olympic roster and that's what people are going to continue to assume until either he or the team says otherwise.
