Ask Bob McKenzie!
So for example, would Kesler be prepared to go back to Ohio - he played at Ohio State University - for the Columbus Blue Jackets? And if he was prepared to do that, would the Blue Jackets give up a young centre like Ryan Johansen? Would the New York Rangers give up Derek Stepan, or someone along those lines? Again, someone who is between 20 and 25 who the Canucks can put in their lineup. If they can find the absolute right fit, and they would have to take some money back on Kesler because in order to make these trades, there's a lot of teams that are capped out and would have a tough time taking his salary - although when you look at his contract it's an awesome contract for that guy. So yeah, it's being considered. - Champ
sorry, the trade still makes zero sense to me from Columbus's end, i don't care how much kesler likes ohio. though if bob really is saying that i don't know what to think
bottom line, i dont really get the point of trading a center like stepan/johansen for kesler, strikes me as a lateral move at best (and that's generous)
Ah I see where you got that from. Looks to me like it's an ideal scenario for Vancouver but whether it's actually realistic is another question...ie. Kesler probably isn't moving if that's their demand |

Pure speculation based on past history, I dont see him wanting to go there just because he played for Ohio State.
Too easy.
Whats Kesler's contract, NMC wise?

He is assuming that Kesler and Torts don't get along and Kesler wants out. |

Boy I wish Eklund used this kind of rational thinking before he hits the enter button on his computer.
Spot on analysis, I dont see it happening unless Doug Maclean's back in charge. |

Reading Bob's report I agree, it's speculation. overall sense, it's overall pretty unlikely he gets dealt by the deadline.
then again gillis has a history of overvaluing his players (see Luongo, Roberto) |

Hawks need a 2C and to get rid of bad contract players like Bickell. Could be pretty funny if Kesler ends up there |

may be so, but still doesn't answer why Columbus/NYR would be willing to give up good, younger, cheaper centers for an injury prone and getting older Kesler. i mean, maybe he just meant players LIKE johansen/stepan but there aren't too many of those around
normally i wouldn't question a report from Bob but the reported demands there strike me as a bit bizarre |

I assumed that from the start, I doubt anyone on that team actually likes the guy, if they were in first place and winning games this would all be moot anyway.
When your losing, having a hothead coach like Torts is painful. Not comparing myself to a pro, but I played hockey for years and I had a coach like him once, even when we won we still felt like we did something wrong.
Somethings up in Van City, something has to give soon, this is the Torts pattern.
Either way its fun to watch. |

Kesler will fetch a young up and coming player like Clb Ryan Johansen or Derek Stephan as per Bob McKenzie. So obviously hoping to land PK alone would be impossible. - Champ
No he's not.

He's saying that's what the Canucks would be looking for. Not what they could expect back. Neither of those teams would give up those guys for Kesler. |

He must of got it in his head the team needed a kick in the ass take no prisoners type of guy, not sure he made the right call.
The team seems to have hit a wall, they needed a shakeup of somekind, but this Torts idea is only going to end one way and everyone knows it.
I say enjoy the show |
