I'd be amenable to the "trade down and pick up an asset" philosophy with our first, but we're all quite happy about Perron.
We know Sabres don't like Gagner, is there a 1st + _______ from the Oil that equals Myers + that later 1st or Myers + some of your many 2nds? - Morris
I'm sure we're both sick of hearing Gagner to Sabres for X, but he's simply a side step. Hodgson and Ennis can do as much or more. Having all 3 of those guys on the team is zero help. But I'm also sure you've heard that position as well. |

Staples Blog suggests the asking price would be:
Gagner + one of Klef/Marincin/Nurse/1st |

Yeah, I definitely get that.
It's tough, but we've kinda got nothing between our top flight assets and our worthless assets. Really what we need is to go FA shopping more than anything else. |

HAHAHA- 2 weeks off and this (frank)ing team is having troubles hitting the net and remains a perimeter offensive attack.... what a (frank)ing joke this team is... NYI wins last night and WE maintain our 29th spot Be bad for Ekblad... |

I got my Budweiser goal light. Got it all ready to go for an oilers goal. I think I wasted my money. |

I thought you wanted Ekblad? I mean really wanted Ekblad. - Jeropotato
I do but I thought the (frank)ing team would have improved and at the very least practiced enough to hit the (frank)ing net and remove the perimeter bullpoop |

You do realize that Eckblad will be a good player, just not a franchise D. A solid 2nd pairing guy. |

What indication have you got that he will be a franchise D? He is not the consensus #1 in a weak draft year, and I have heard is that he is mature beyond his years, and is "pretty good at everything, not great at anything"....and that's coming from Bob Mackenzie after his poll of the head scouts. Sounds like an NHL player, for sure, but not the next Pronger/Weber/Lindstrom.....more like Chris Philips.
I say we trade the (frank)ing pick. |

I'm sure Mac T called. Pretty sure Kesler would Kaibosh the deal even if Van liked it.
Probably cost us too much though for what he's worth. |

That's why drafting them high (or in general) is pretty hit and miss. Sucks because that's the cheapest way to find good D, outside of the oppurtunity cost of passing up an elite forward. |

He sounds like Ryan Murray. Safe pick, but possibly underwhelming for a first or second overall pick. |

So Erhoff submits a list of 8 teams he won't play for. What are the chances Edmonton makes the list? |

100%. Unless he has a "hockey market" fetish, from signing for BUF in the first place. |

Lottery picks. Their like new cars. Once you use it the player selected goes down in value. People like the picks way more than the player. Would anyone trade a lottery pick for Yak, Huberdeau, A Larson? |

Depends how they feel about one of those players. I find a lot of high picks over the course of a few seasons are relatively interchangeable, until a guy proves to be an impact player which should shoot his value up. |

Of course it depends. But in the 3 years it should take to develop into an impact player the value of said player tends to drop. Example is Yak. He is still projected to be the player he was drafted to be...in a couple years..and will be well worth a top pick when that time comes, but right now, posters will consider him as a throw in, or a 2nd rounder. Stupid. |

Late 1sts and 2nd rounders, in volume, is the way to go. |
