What did you go and do Jero????
- ruttager17

Oh, you know how it is.....Hemsky is worth a 4th or 5th rounder at best. It's gonna be hilarious when he does get traded (to one of the teams that would NEVER trade for a POS like Hemmer) and plays well for whomever. Love him or hate him, Hemsky has become fairly under-valued around the league.

It seems like any player on the Oilers has little to no value around the league. I saw one lunatic suggest that the Oilers would be hard pressed to move Jordan Eberle and his terrible contract.

What indication have you got that he will be a franchise D? He is not the consensus #1 in a weak draft year, and I have heard is that he is mature beyond his years, and is "pretty good at everything, not great at anything"....and that's coming from Bob Mackenzie after his poll of the head scouts. Sounds like an NHL player, for sure, but not the next Pronger/Weber/Lindstrom.....more like Chris Philips.
I say we trade the (frank)ing pick.

- Jeropotato

Should have done that a long (frank)ing time ago... Now its worth too much come draft day... at the very least we are taking it to the draft- if not drafting with it...

It's worth too much? Meaning we should have traded it when it was worth less? I don't understand the logic.

Well would you have predicted a lotto pick with our 1st rounder in Oct or Novermber? Now that we are 29th and forecasting a purge this trade deadline with our vets- we will all but secure for bottom 5 finish- is the pick today not worth more than in October???

Of course it's worth more. All the reason to trade it. One thing that hasn't changed is our need for another 18 year old kid. If our pick gets us the help we need, why not move it for max return? Provided the return is something we need. If the trade isn't there, I would be happy to draft any of the 3 projected top prospects.

Yeah, retain half salary to possibly gain more from the trade.

I think doing this would also make him more enticing to other teams as well instead of just one or two. It would be sweet to get a bidding war for him. Either way, he needs to be moved.

For Myers? Wonder what's the price for ehrhoff.
- deks1

For Kesler. I would hope that Myers would be less, and Ehrhoff less than that.

I'm going to pretend like this is really easy to do for a second

1) Edmonton trades 1st round pick + (insert expendable sweetner) to (insert top 10-15 team) for their 1st round pick + (insert quality veteran dman)

2) Edmonton trades acquired 15th-20th overall pick + (insert other expendable sweetner) to (insert team looking to get younger) for (insert a slightly better quality veteran dman).

3) Edmonton uses mid-round picks acquired from trading away (insert pending-UFA veteran(s)) to restock and feel like they haven't damaged their prospect pool.

Myers or Ehrhoff?

Keeping in mind that Myers likely comes at a higher price.

Hard to say. Erhoff is more proven and we know what we are getting. Myers could be great....but has not been consistent. I don't know...Erhoff I guess as I know he inproves our D. Myers might end up like Ryan Sh!tney on the Oilers.

I like Myers more, but ehrhoff is prob cheaper and his veteran experience goes along way.

What if we added our second (31st) to my proposal.

Myers
Mid 1st from Moulson/Ott/Ehrhoff etc.
Sabres 2nd (31st or 32nd)

EDM 2014 1st
Perron

I think Ehrhoff will cost a sh*t load also. I think there might be some cap penalty down the line or something that BUF will have to pay for. Check Friedman's twitter, he said something about it augmenting Ehrhoff's trade value even more

Is there anyway that a team can assume the cap penalty as part of a deal?

I would rather Foligno than the 30th or 31st pick.
