I don't agree with the talk that Lecavalier doesn't fit. - MJL
They wanted him to be 2nd line center. B Schenn to wing. I get it. Simmonds on the other side. Horrible defensive set up. Not saying it couldn't work, but taking certain guys and making them play out of position does not mean it is a good fit. Briere couldn't play wing to save his job. |

I think those things are exaggerated. What has to happen is that a player, especially one that has played one position his entire career, needs some time to adjust to playing a new position. Briere struggled at Wing, but just needed more time to adjust. I read time and again that Carter can't play Wing, and that Richards and Carter can't play together. Both those proved to be unfounded in LA. Lecavalier has played Center mostly, and some RW. Now he's being asked to play LW. He needs some time to adjust that. That's on top of his injuries this year. I go by one simple rule. Judge a player over a longer period of time, and you get a truer picture. Give Lecavalier some time to adjust and hopefully get healthy, and see what happens.
Same with B Schenn versus being a Winger or a Center. And discussions on what spot is better for him. I think what's better for him is putting him in a spot and leaving him there. Instead of bouncing him around. |

I agree with the B Schenn statement 100%. But VL isn't on the good side of 30 where his injures wont cause him to miss games as much and that it would hamper his getting used to the other position. I like VL, good player. I just don't think he was a move we needed to make. They always loved him, he became available. BOOM.....he's a Flyer. Why not spend that contract on a younger winger for B Schenn? |

What younger Winger? You've got a chance to add a player like Lecavalier on the cheap, it's a no brainer in my opinion. The guy is a player. He was real good before the back injury. Now he's had an injury, been moved around, it has an effect even on a veteran. I'm not at the point of writing Lecavalier off yet. I think it's extremely premature to do so.
And there is also the possibility that trades are made, and the Center position opens up again.

That's quite a haul. The Blues are going for it this year. Good for them. I may root for them depending on where we are playoff time. |

Ok, very true. Maybe they move the Schenns for that D-man. But if they are part of the "core", then why not build on that. Look to add a scoring winger for him to center. VL, good player. I just didn't think he was move we needed to make. |

Massive overpay IMO. This is exactly why I want the Flyers sell their soon to be older UFAs. |

Buffalo is absolutely stacked with picks and prospects... if they could draft for poop, I might actually be worried. |

I would hope that any D man that they are willing to trade B Schenn for is also young. So therefore it's not taking away from the youth core, it's trading youth for youth. Unless it's for an elite defenseman such as Weber. That would be the only scenario where I could accept trading B Schenn for an older player.

I fully agree with you. But you and I both know Weber would cost them too mush that I feel they should part with. |

Exactly! I can only hope Homer thinks the way many on this board do and pull a SJ from last year's deadline. |

Naw... if they're dealing the Schenns, I'd want players around the same point on the development curve. |

No, but I'm not a fan of Edler or Burrows.
Btw, apparently Chris Stewart is about to get moved again. |
