Who could we get in that position?
I just wanna see us bring a couple capable forwards to fill our roster....quick! - Orpik44
I know, I have seen some people say that this season is already a wash and we should worry about next year and that just makes me laugh.
we are in one of the weakest eastern conferences in over a decade, we should be able to make it to the finals much easier than the road last year. |

We need a couple character guys for our bottom 6 (Goc, Talbot or Cooke) and a capable top 6 winger (Boyes or Hemsky). A healthy Martin and rested Orpik and Scuderi would be cool too.
Too much to ask? I thought so |

I don't think the season is a wash. I'd say they're not getting a lot of luck on the injury side of things. Even before the Olympic break there have been some concerning trends. No Duper, Letang, Martin, Bennett and Vokoun are big holes and there's virtually no guarantee on any of them returning.
I think last year was one of the easiest roads to the Conference finals ever. The Isle was not a good team. Should have never been close against that Pens team. Ottawa was equally inept. Boston however will still be in the way and they're a very deep team. |

(frank) this artificially lowered cap bullpoop. No matter what happens this bottom six needs to be blown the (frank) up by the draft at the latest. I'm so sick of how terrible they are. Extend Jokinen and maybe Niskanen on a short reasonable deal. Let Orpik walk. Drop Engelland's lame ass. Use Despres to pick up someone decent after you nuke the (frank) out of that bottom six. This way you whiny female doges can quit crying about Despres not being played and bring in guys who can do more than pick up speed every five games and hit some people into walls, you know some actual puck possession. I'm not a big Pyatt fan, sill can play and Megna and gibbons are alright but just nuke that damn bottom six from orbit. |

I really don't understand the huge desire for Kessler he's a good player, better than sutter, yes. But sutter is a viable third center and if they give up the assets for Kessler it leaves nobody left to be traded for greater needs as well as no cap space for those needs. I'm just looking at it like the team can win a cup with sutter as the third center but there isn't a chance in hell this team can win a cup with brian gibbons playing consistently on the first line. |

So are you talking just for the rest of this season? I hope so cause Gibbons being a lock on the first line past this season wont be happening.
Shero might just go get Hemsky to play on the top line... |

Shero kinda made his bed, he signed Dupuis and Kunitz to 3 more years on Sids wing, maybe not plausible towards the end, but thats the short term plan. |

Yes clearly just for this season but of they get Kesler even looking past this season it's going to be difficult to fill the holes on the wings assuming they resign one of either nisk or Orpik as well as jussi. |

That depends.... I don't why you or even Shero would want Orpik back, I would send him packing.
Nisk has been a nice surprise but I don't think he will be retained if Kesler is brought in.
Jussi can be for 3-4 mil.
The Pens can ice a team with Jussi back and Kesler and have 6 D, with 3-4 mil in space. honestly the Letang injury is a huge wrench in the plans, I think he'll be back and will always be a piece to use in a trade down the line. |

You can use that 4.5 mil to solidify that bottom 6 some more pushing guys like Gibbons and Vitale as rotations and pick up a bottom pairing D to help out Dumoulin. The dollars can work just fine. Kesler will make Pitt a better and harder team to beat. |

So you are just going to give up on this year entirely people don't seem to understand that if they can add a winger capable of playing on the first line and another on the 3rd this team can win a cup. |

I don't understand what you mean?
Been pretty adamant about adding Kesler and maybe another guy like Hemsky/Boyes will make this team pretty good. Kesler can easily play on top line. He can really play anywhere, he is fast and can shoot.... |

Because Despres' pinch was not what I like to call successful. That goal is on 47. But down 3-1 with limited time left it isn't a crime against humanity to pinch there - Ryan_Wilson
You aren't supposed to badmouth Despres' nothing he does is wrong and it's all Bylsma's fault. At least according to some fans.
I didn't see the game, I was at a wedding all day. |

Des took a few questionable penalties and didn't have a strong game. That being said, nothing really could have prepared him for handling a stacked Hawks team charging right past Joe Vitale's line through the neutral zone. I counted fourteen odd-man rushes given up by Pittsburgh and 4 posts hit by Chicago. A proper drubbing. |

Aside from all of the problems we have on our lineup I feel Sid and Geno aren't being the best on the ice since the return. I see no motivation right now. They know our bottom six sucks. Let's fix it and get ready for the playoffs.
Orpik and Scuderi should use some rest, even with all the injuries. Both are looking slow and out of position many many times. |

Time for Orpik to get on with his life's work. Get rid of him He is a disaster He together with Scuderi has to be the worst pairing ever. Dumb and Dumber were much better |

Injuries and the lowered cap really hurt this season. Shero took a gamble signing the deals he did, banking on being relatively healthy.
We started the season with 7 legitimate top 6 forwards, and a strong top 8 out of a top 9. At training camp, our big worry was grit on the third line, not secondary scoring. Sutter with Bennett and Kobasew or D'Agostini or whomever was good enough for the regular season.
Dupuis injury sucked, but we had a backup plan with Bennett. Losing him really hurt. The second line has been solid, but Sid's line has been bad without a legitimate RW.
This team isn't a legitimate Cup contender right now.... Adding Kesler doesn't change that, but he can fortify the top line for now, and that is likely good enough to win a round or two. After that it's gonna take a lot of luck. But adding Kesler sets up the team better for next season.

poopty game in the snow. I'm not as negative about it as some. However the current make up of this team is terrible. Lowered cap and injuries has made us a very average looking team. Get younger and faster right now. Cut Adams and Pyatt and get Megna and Harry z in the line up. |

Adams can't skate at all now. He's pretty old. Bringing in Zolnierczyk or Sill would be a smart idea. Pyatt has a Big body but hardly uses it. |

TIOPS saying Brad Boyes is off the block. One less option out there.
They are also saying Vancouver is looking at our prospects. Perhaps they are interested in dealing Kesler after all. |
