I really dont want the pens to pursue anyone this trade deadline. I honestly dont think with the current lineup/injuries/coach combination this year that we have any kind of legitimate shot at the cup.
Watching them be manhandled by the hawks tonight just reaffirms this. Maybe the pens get out of the eastern conference with an easy playoff schedule and a lot of luck but does anyone honestly believe we would be the hawks, blues or ducks???
Is it worth it to sell away more assets for rentals on a what is becoming (despite our struggles to the contrary) a lost season.
Stand pat the trade deadline, make some rumbling in the playoffs, reassess during the off season, gauge the injurines to bennett, martin and tanger, then address your needs then.
Also: shots 31-14 in favor of the hawks |

alright, first of all... relax.
second, the penguins can afford trade picks with the emergence of Maatta and the development of Pouliot. It is as simple as that. You act like a 1st round pick is the key to a championship. the penguins had 5 guys drafted in the first round on their 09 cup winning roster.
long story short, trading picks and prospects to rebuilding teams while your best players are in their prime is nothing new and nothing ridiculous. - SuperHenderson13
Yea, but you keep sending them away for guys that are a luxury and not a necessity. Fill the holes first |

So, trade Despres; trade Orpik; Letang could be out for the season; Martin is out for a while still. Remind me who will play on the blueline outside of Maatta and Niskanen? Yep, I thought so ... - Oneonta Penguin

a gritty guy who can play 3rd line center or top RWer isn't a necessity?
I mean are you guys okay with playing Sutter 4 million next season? Because I'm sure not. |

not really. you have Vitale, Jokinen, Dupuis next year, FA signings in the offseason.
Lots of options. |

That last one was on Crosby with a stupid back pass to Kunitz. Crosby appears to have mailed this one in to me. |

Chicago has more odd-man rushes than Pittsburgh has shots on goal. |

You are absolutely clueless. A first round isn't a key to a tile. It's key to gaining assets in a farm system that is devoid of talent.

You make it like we have tons of money to play with to go shopping. Yep, I want Vitale centering the third line. We probably wouldn't be able to afford Jokinen. Do you think rationally? Really?

So If we don't trade for Kesler... Bring Boyes/Matthias and Hemsky? We are in trouble without Dupuis and Letang. |
|
|
|
Personally, I'd like to see the pens make a trade for a young long term winger for Sid. Then you can get gibbons off that top line and next year dupuis and Bennett could be dropped to the 3rd line to help sutter. With letang and dupuis done for the year, the pens have a huge uphill battle to make the finals |
