Maybe. I just hate how everyone interpreted 'Bold' as 'massive, earth shattering trade'.
I basically thought he was saying that Tambo was afraid to improve the team outside the draft. |

When Mac-T said "Bold Move", I think he was referring to giving all of the octane girls a Jewkkake.

His real name is Phil??? I had no idea. I also just realized I spelled it as "whole" not "hole" and feel shame. Wait I am an Oilers fan, do we even feel that anymore? |

I honestly hope Gagner gets traded for an effective two-way player with some size. Someone along the lines of Colin Wilson or Daniel Winnik (or a similar player who's signed for longer). We have a perfectly capable replacement for Gagner in Arcobello and we NEED to add another element to this team. If MacT could also pull off something like the previously suggested trade of Hemsky (half-cap retained) for Despres and a 3rd and move out some of our other dead weight, that'd be great. |

Do you see Arcobello as a viable 2nd line centre long term on a cup competitive team? I don't, without major restructuring of the kind of supporting wingers that are in the top 6.
I pretty much agree with everything else though. |

Agree, arco is a stop gap at best, the boy has some skill, that's undeniable. But he's a midget among smerfs. |

For me in an ideal world, we'd move gagner for size and two way play such as a Colin Wilson. Wilson may even be able to play centre, pretty sure he was drafted as one. If not, I would hope we improve these last 20 games to be picking 4th and grab draisaitl. Personally, I'm hoping we bypass ekblAd for draisaitl, all things equal.
I had a thought the other day of:
Eberle + 2015 2nd for foligno, Stewart, and a 1st (one from the St. Louis trade)
Gagner + that first + lander for yandle
Draft draisaitl, sign kulemin, goc, halak and hopefully niskanen.
Foligno nuge yak
Hall goc Stewart
Kulemin Gordon Perron
Gazdic/smyth/maybe moroz (for a few) Hendricks pitlick
Yandle niskanen
Marincin petry
Ference Schultz
Halak
Scrivens.
Let draisaitl develop another year or two than bring in as the 2c. Bring in nurse and klefbom slowly.
I have no idea what the cap would b, it's 6am and too lazy to calculate. I realize what I've proposed won't happen, But if we could fill a hole or two using one of those trades or free agents, that'd be a major improvement.

I see no reason to play Smyth as a 4C when you've got a guy like Arcobello in Oklahoma. To me that's just ludicrous.
Seems to me they've made the decision to keep Gazdic as a regular over Arcobello which is the kind of move you make when you're a team full of smurfs who constantly seem to need a spark, but probably doesn't make us a better hockey team. |

Agree with both, the thing with gazdic is we NEED the size, not want but need. And until the team gets bigger in general I don't see him going anywhere, and I don't really have any problem with that. |

I doubt Gazdic goes anywhere anytime soon, even if we get big. He'll be that player that allows others to play bigger and protect them when other teams think that our players went over the edge.
I mean if we ever get bigger. |

I'm not opposed to him whatsoever. Certainly a contentious player, and I'd be surprised if he ever got good enough to be an 82-game 4th liner, but having him as an option in a variety of physical matchups is a no brainer at the 700-800k it'd take to retain him. |

Curious to see what his extension is. Quite the tell that we are locking him up first. |

I didn't even see that there was an extension on the table for him. That's sweet.
Apparently they're working hard on Nultz to Boston, Hemmer to any number of places and a 3-year ext for Scrivens |

I'm not surprised, the Oilers need Gadzic. Players fear Gadzic. He is one of the very few bright spots on this team. |

Smyth to a contender as well.
Can see Jones being dealt for a 7th in 2015, although I rather just keep him at that point. |
