I'm not surprised, the Oilers need Gadzic. Players fear Gadzic. He is one of the very few bright spots on this team.

He's been a good fighter but as a player he has a lot of improvements to make. But I have no issue signing him for a little longer in the $750k range.

Smyth to a contender as well.

Can see Jones being dealt for a 7th in 2015, although I rather just keep him at that point.

I have been on side with keeping Jones up until the past 10 games or so. Just have not liked what he's brought the last while. I'd let him go if someone wants him because I dont see a spot for him going forward next season. Let him see if he can find a spot somewhere else.

Agreed about Jones. I look forward to spending a bit of money to upgrade his role on the team in FA, but for now I'd rather see him play out his time with us unless a contender happened to be after him and we could give him the opportunity to chase a cup.

Nope, I agree his spot needs to be upgraded.

I see the forward core needing the following upgrades:
- Jones needs a better player in his spot (Kulemin, Winnik, etc.)
- Hemmer needs to be replaced with a more defensively talented player
- We need a way to permanently remove Smyth from 4C. Whether that's Arcobello, or Hendricks sliding to C, or signing a guy like Boyle or a 3C that bumps Gordon down, I dunno.
- We probably need an upgrade at 2C, and even if we don't get one this summer I can see getting a different skillset than Gagner's being beneficial.

It's a nice option to have a top fighter in your line up. His game isn't bad, good team guy, knows his role, knows the code ect.... I mean if a team wants him as part of a deal Mac wants to make then fine, but for the money I think it's a no brainer to sign him.

Since the Boogard deal fighters just haven't had the value that GM's once put on them. Don't think we get much more than maybe a 3rd for Gazdic, really don't see how that helps us.

Very doubtful. Hanzal is a big two-way center. Hemsky's rumored to be worth a 3rd. Gagner doesn't make up that difference.

He's fine for his role. I don't think his role is crucial to a team, but if the oilers want a guy for that then he's fine. Though it's time for them to stop kidding themselves and cease trying to turn him into an every day player because it's clear he's a noticeable step below every other depth forward skill and skating wise.

Yeah that asking price is obviously different depending on where in the 1st round the pick is and who the roster player is.
