I am not revising history. Luke Schenn was one of the few bright spots last season. In fact, I remember by last season's end most people considering the trade a fair hockey trade because L. Schenn looked like he turned the corner and JvR looked like he turned into the beast.
That being said, this season, it clearly looks like Toronto has won the deal. But let us consider that Schenn will never, never, never, not ever, never score as many goals as JvR. Not ever. Won't happen. And to compare the two in that regard is completely unfair.
If you want to make the case that Homer might have been able to wait out a trade longer and get another dman, by all means, I will not disagree with you. But I leave you with this thought--
Who plays those minutes if Luke Schenn is not in our lineup?
Who plays more minutes next season if Luke Schenn is not under contract and Timonen retires (because the Flyers pipeline is still a few years)?
And no, I'm not related to the Schenns. - Moose_15
fair enough thats how you see it.....frankly ...Schenn is replaceable as in my estimation he's not very good when forced to play a lot.
I just don't think he's very good....to be blunt.
and the related comment was alittle over the top...my apologies. |

You know why political talk sucks? Because neither side seems willing to even agree that the other side might have a couple of good ideas and that compromise is weak or stupid.
FoxNews is owned and operated by a huge right wing media conglomerate. It's president is a former staffer for Republican presidents and politicians. It is absolutely a propaganda machine for the conservative viewpoint.
MSNBC willingly admits it is a left wing clone of FoxNews, in other words a liberal propaganda machine.
To say that one is better than the other is being a moronic sheep who needs to be told that he is right all the time. They're both propaganda wings for their ownership's political views. Nothing more or less. |

Yeah, sad that people have so little tolerance for view points they don't already agree/subscribe to. |

He does. But if you can have a 2nd for a rental defenseman who has no idea how to play defense, you do it. The second round usually has a few hidden gems, and I'd roll the dice on it. - jmatchett383
I think if Gustafsson is in the lineup on Wednesday, and Meszaros has not been traded, that will tell us everything we need to know about where he fits in on the future of this club.
Or it could tell us nothing.
Or it could tell us somethings but not other things.
Does that clear anything up? |

All major news outlets are corporate owned, and I've heard those "people" have their own agenda. Fox is partly owned by a Saudi prince, which should make heads explode on the right. Regardless, all major media is owned by an ever-shrinking monopoly.
Anyway, I think the mountain man-child Couturier had a solid weekend while Downie's stock continues to lose value... |

I don't think it means anything. Berube has been shifting those guys around regardless of level of play. We've seen him bench both during good and bad stretches. It just seems like he wants to keep both guys fresh.
I find it difficult for the players or their partners to find a rhythm is they get taken out so much. |

My last point on this was that a few years ago I went to a conference for my job. Bill Clinton was the Key Note speaker...long story short he took a few questions at the end, which kinda shocked me, but someone asked him if any piece of legislation he passed had not worked out the way he thought it would...he quickly answered Telecommunications Act, didnt see how bad it would get when so few have control of so many of our media outlets then he went on to what he thought would happen....dont know how he didnt see that, but I agree with this News will be a joke as long as corporations control it........Now we getting Erhoff or what |

The real problem, of course, is the politicians. They take turns (over decades) being 'regressive', but one team is clearly the front-runner right now. |

He had two very nice individual plays this weekend that really stood out. His goal against Lundqvist and his setup of Hall's SHG.
I love him |

I love how this was the weakest storm of the season so far, and lots of places/schools preemptively closed up shop for today and must be kicking themselves. |

No hard feelings, sir. I see your points, too. And I agree that Homer undersold JvR. I like Schenn because, in my opinion, he gives the Flyers a peg to build around--one that they're lacking in the next 2 to 3 seasons because they have not done well drafting defensemen over the years nor have they had the needed draft picks to take chances on developing d-men. (How many years did they go without a 2nd round pick?)
For as much as people disliked Chris Therien, for years, he was a dman that could be counted on to eat top minutes and play a decent game. I see the same in Luke Schenn when he's paired with someone who has at least a remote sense of defensive responsibility (which I do not see in the games that Streit or Meszaros play). |

Actually it's the opposite. Schenn has ben much better when his minutes were extended, including last Season when he was playing well over 20 minutes and even close to 30 in some games. Obviously the injuries had a lot to do with that. And the two are definitely related, because the reason his minutes go up, is because of his play, and vice versa. He's clearly shown that he's capable of being a 20+ minute a game player in this league. His biggest issue continues to be inconsistency. |

And whats Foxnews...center right....You have got to be joking...its the biggest scare mongering, hateful, agenda filled network in the nation....many countries wont air it cause it doesnt meet there journalistic standards to be considered a news network..Which probably says something about our standards, but anyway back to more important things like HOCKEY - nonpoint22
Scare mongering? Isn't that like what global warming is?
So funny how hate filled you guys are towards differing opinions. If you don't want to debate politics than I'd suggest you keep your asinine comments on topic.
Your entire comment is exactly what's wrong with liberals. You accuse others of what is in your heart and pretend its not.
Journalism's been dead for awhile, and liberals killed it. They always do. |
