Briere/Schenn played together a lot last year/switching between C and wing. - jmatchett383

I am sure most "buyers" are "interested" until Murray drops the asking price on them - nonpoint22
Which I doubt will happen. At a $4MM cap him you wont find a top 3 dman at better value.
Plus the actual money paid is equal to or less than the cap hit, which is contract gold for an owner.
Is the term long? Sure, but you wont have to worry about that for 4-5 years.
There is no reason for Buffalo to move Ehrhoff unless the offer is what Murray wants. |

They saddled him with Briere all last season. They have saddled him with Vinny for much of this season. I would like to see them stop putting him with guys who can't play the wing. - PhillySportsGuy
Are you trying to say a lifelong center can't automatically play a different position?
Oh, you are? Then, well, carry on. |

From my perspective that's pretty much it, thought it was all put to rest and yet the same thing happens again with Lack playing dominant hockey.
The Heritage Classic snub was ridiculous, i'd be happy to see him moved for next to nothing merely do to the way this organization has treated him, its ludicrous and humiliating as a fan. - Whiskey-Tango
Thats what I thought...Its a pretty unique situation. Normally you have fans turning on a player cause he asks out of town. I think as fans we are used to that, but this LU situation is one where it seems like the fan base and media are totally on his side. |

You're not very familiar with Ed Snider, I can see. It's the exact opposite for him (see; Bryzgalov, Pronger, Weber offer sheet, etc).
Someone please post the money throwing gif. |

I'd leave the top 2 lines as they are. Hartnell, somehow, just helps Giroux. Even when Hartnell's not playing well, he seems to make Giroux better.
However, I'd definitely put Raffl with Coots/Read. It's amazing how well they have played with Downie dragging them down. - jmatchett383
Agree 100%. Downie is an undisciplined anchor. |

Exactly...Love to have him cause he definitely fills a need, but again I have a feeling Murray will ask for the moon for him, which he should for the reasons you listed, and if thats the case why not to pony up a little more and try to pry Myers out of there....neither will happen |

I hope the Flyers do nothing before the deadline. This is a situation where they need to just ride the season out and whatever happens, it happens. They need to get players who are disciplined and play position hockey. It is great that they can comeback from a deficit but you aren't going to make a living that way. You shoot yourself in the foot often enough, you will end up blowing your foot off. |

Edler is 27.
Edit: In todays NHL he'll cost a 1st - BiggE
And he's -24 in just 44 games. Edler is having a shockingly bad season. Worse than Vinny's season. The common theme - back problems. |

My bad, I was thinking Hamhuis. You're right.
Still, if he truly is available, I'd try to jump the market without moving a first/top-9 player. Vancouver may actually be the perfect place for Akeson to break through, as he seems like the kind of player they could use. - jmatchett383
In theory I agree, in reality, with the overvaluing of dmen in the NHL, I'm pretty sure he'd cost a 1st. Remember a marginally better player, like Yandle, would cost a 1st and B Schenn (DON'T DO IT HOMER!) its just what getting a good dman costs these days.
I don't just look at as getting a legit 27 top 4 mobile and skilled Dman for a 1st; I see it as getting him without giving up Coots, B Schenn, Read, Laughton, Morin, Hagg or our. 1st in 2015. I'm cool with that. |

Doesn't Edler have a back problem that can resurface at any moment? |

With the draft in Philly, would you include the first round pick if it got you Edler/Ehrhoff? |

To be fair Vinny has been pretty miserable in his stint at wing this year..much better at center....well a little better |

You're in full tank mode and D is the one area where you have originational depth. Ehrhoff will be on the wrong side of 35 when you're competing again. |

Yes. I hope they would wait until the draft day though. The day they traded for Pronger was still exciting even though they didn't draft anyone. |

That would scare me. Flyers aren't exactly the luckiest of franchises with injuries to #1 defenseman. |

If we are drafting towards the end of round 1, I'd gladly take a risk on Edler. He's less of a risk than actually picking. Chances are even if we draft a future top 6, we won't see him in the NHL for 7-8 years.
But I'm a win now kinda guy. |

I wouldn't, I think there both really good defensemen, but to include the 1st this year it would have to be a special player. Honestly, it doesnt matter where the draft is being held |

The problem is that he's not better than Schenn, Giroux or Couturier at center, so you can't move him back there.
Schenn is also better at center than wing, so you don't want to move him off center. |
