Schenn and Schenn for Edler and Kesler is a bad deal. - wolfhounds
If Van offered that, homer would take it. I would as well.

Big risk, he's been crap for 3 years. - puckhead17
I agree....but we all know we will trade for high potential defenders who have played like crap on their previous team...ie Luke Schenn |

Agree 100%. Downie is an undisciplined anchor. - Feanor
Oh yeah. He doesnt seem right mentally and physically. Seems as if he has no acceleration and is struggling and making bad choices in his actions. Its a shame. |

With the draft in Philly, would you include the first round pick if it got you Edler/Ehrhoff? - aightwebang17
Would rather go for MacDonald, he's not as "sexy", but, very underrated.
Plays 25 minutes a night, decent puck mover, & defensively competent. |

It has worked before though. Carle, Coburn and Mez were all coming off poor seasons, but had potential. They reached their potential with the Flyers. We all know what happened with Mez though. |

You're in full tank mode and D is the one area where you have originational depth. Ehrhoff will be on the wrong side of 35 when you're competing again. - hereticpride
OK? so Ehrhoff should be given away then? Im not sure i understand where you are going here. |

If we are drafting towards the end of round 1, I'd gladly take a risk on Edler. He's less of a risk than actually picking. Chances are even if we draft a future top 6, we won't see him in the NHL for 7-8 years.
But I'm a win now kinda guy. - Flyersgod
If Edler would really cost just a first round pick then even with his injury concerns and play this year I would consider trading our 2014 1st (conditional on it not winning the lottery). But Vancouver is going to want a good forward like Simmonds, BSchenn or Voracek for him. |

I think he's expensive too. He's, also, a rental. Ehrhoff is signed long term at a great cap hit. |

I've often wondered if Myers could turn his game around in the right environment, but he's very risky & the cost could be damaging. |

Whatever makes the team better. I couldn't care less if they don't pick til the 2nd as long as the 1st rounder is used effectively. |

The problem is that he's not better than Schenn, Giroux or Couturier at center, so you can't move him back there.

It quite the dilemma, which why I wondered why they signed Vinny at all..I really thought that Vinny being signed was a sign that B schenn or coots days were numbered and one of them would be shipped for a d man...shows how much I know...trying to figure out the flyers is like trying to figure out my gf. when I finally feel I got a grasp on it, something happens to make me realize im clueless |

Id be willing to part with Laughton or our 2014 1st for Ehrhoff. I know some Flyers fans wouldn't even do that, but I like Ehrhoff more than others. |

Edler is 27.
Edit: In todays NHL he'll cost a 1st - BiggE
Top four D come at a premium. No way he
gets moved without a top six player coming back, same as Kesler |

I wouldn't do more than a 1st. Some players look great with certain teams, but Van doesn't play a game anywhere similiar to the Flyers.
Kronwall would have been an awesome Flyer. Phaneuf too, even though I think he's a douche. |

The location of the draft should not and cannot be a factor. Improving the team must be the sole concern |

They signed him because he was too good of a player to pass up. It was like they went to the grocery and bought milk because it was on sale even though they had more than enough at home. |

Not at all. Im just saying the Sabres have little reason to keep him. BUT can ask for two 1st if they want. But they'll only be shooting themselves in the foot if they hold onto him waiting for the perfect offer. |

I think we would have a good chance of signing him, he wants longer term, and he's at the right age.
Honestly, I see him as the true replacement for Carle, (not Streit). |

Probably right. I just think, in the long term, it's a bad move for the Flyers. But I am curious to see what, if anything, happens by the TDL. |

There must be a team with a decent LW who could really use a 2C like Vinny. Of course he would need to agree to be moved, but I doubt he really wants to spend the rest of his career wasted on the wing.

I think they were pretty clear that BSchenn would be moved to LW with the intention of him staying there all season. It didn't work out, but it was worth trying.
For some reason players like Sharp and Carter manage to make the transition to wing as soon as they leave Philly. |

I'd do it, rather move the 1st though. I think Laughton is the safer bet to succeed at this time |
