I think we would have a good chance of signing him, he wants longer term, and he's at the right age.
Honestly, I see him as the true replacement for Carle, (not Streit). - puckhead17
Then why not just wait until FA and sign him. Not point in giving up 2 2nds now when you can have him later. |

Probably right. I just think, in the long term, it's a bad move for the Flyers. But I am curious to see what, if anything, happens by the TDL. - wolfhounds
Van always asks for way too much. I can't believe Schneider only got a 1st after the years of rumors and crap. |

If you could trade the same package for Ehrhoff and Edler, which one would pefer - nonpoint22
Ehrhoff, better cap hit, no back issues |

What about Victor Hedman or Zak Bogosian?
I think Headman has a higher cost to acquire.
Bogosian was a high pick and maybe a change of scenery might help him out . |

For what there gonna ask I would touch him with a ten foot pole - nonpoint22
Myers has made leaps and bounds this year. He has been Buffalos best player.
Last year with the injury and lockout he was out of shape and admitted it.
That said I understand why people still question his game. |

I wouldn't do more than a 1st. Some players look great with certain teams, but Van doesn't play a game anywhere similiar to the Flyers.
Kronwall would have been an awesome Flyer. Phaneuf too, even though I think he's a douche. - Flyersgod
Agreed, but i think its the very reason Edler is having a rough go this year, he was absolutely amazing on the more puck possession, transition game we used to play
i think he gets 50pts and regains his +/- easy with you guys. |

There must be a team with a decent LW who could really use a 2C like Vinny. Of course he would need to agree to be moved, but I doubt he really wants to spend the rest of his career wasted on the wing. - Feanor
I know. He's had such a bad year though. I imagine the Flyers would need to eat some of his salary. If they are willing to eat $500k for each season remaining, he becomes a bit more attractive.
He would be a straight salary dump though. No one is going to give up anything of value for him unless they're idiots.
The only other option is trading him for an underachieving winger who makes as much as him. Someone like a Clarkson. Not sure Id be in favor of that though. |

They signed him because he was too good of a player to pass up. It was like they went to the grocery and bought milk because it was on sale even though they had more than enough at home. - PhillySportsGuy
Unfortunately, they bought the milk even though they were lactose intolerant....aka even though he's a good player at his age with his injury history he wasnt "too good to pass up" and it was against what was in the best interest of the club. I honestly think they signed him cause he is a name that will sell jersey's etc...that all being said I am still a Vinny fan |

I doubt Vinny is traded. Can almost guarantee that.
You don't sign players than trade them that quickly. |

I'd do it, rather move the 1st though. I think Laughton is the safer bet to succeed at this time - BiggE
Flyers are such good drafters in the first round, I'd feel fine either way. I think Laughton is capable of transitioning to wing if he needs to. |

OK? so Ehrhoff should be given away then? Im not sure i understand where you are going here. - ImThatGuy
Buffalo is going to be scary good in a couple seasons if they keep stockpiling picks and players the way they are. I assume 1 more bad year with the kids developing down in the minors for a legit shot at McDavid? |

Really? I still feel he makes a great deal of defensive miscues. I've only watched a handful of Sabres games this year. |

Hedman would cost more than Myers, IMO. He is starting to play like a top D-man.
I dont think the Philly fans would like what they have to give up to get him. |

Because we would have to deal with too many other teams that require his services, and are heavily looking for a decent defenseman as well.
Detroit
Boston
Anaheim
Montreal
New Jersey
etc.
Also, look around, all the other defenseman being mentioned, Edler, Ehrhoff, Byfuglien, etc, would require a much larger package of players/picks. |

I wouldn't, I think there both really good defensemen, but to include the 1st this year it would have to be a special player. Honestly, it doesnt matter where the draft is being held - nonpoint22
It does a bit since it's in Philly. It's why the Flyers were fine with not moving the puck @ TB but wouldn't do it at home. It's your fans and they want entertainment of either a big draft day trade (Schenider to NJ last year) or a chance to cheer their #1 pick. |

I dont think Tampa would sell seeing they are a playoff team and honestly Winnepeg hasnt been leaps and bounds better under Paul Maurice, so I doubt there selling either.....If either could be had you would have to investigate |

How is he when he's left out to defend 2 on 1s? Or being force fed the puck while 2 guys are mugging him at the blueline?

Yea. Id say Hedman is moving towards untouchable. Lightning dealt with his growing pains, it would be stupid for them to trade him now that he's showing his potential. |
