I did mention that it's not the same situation...but that a two year contract now means he can have another lucrative contract at 32, when teams will give him 4-5 or 6 years...at a high enough value...

if he signs for 6 years now, when he's 36 he won't be making as much, nor will he have many years on that deal...

Scenario A: $15 or $16M for 2 years, then signs for $30M for 5 years (total 45-46M)

Scenario B: $36 or $38M for 6 years, then signs contract for 2-3M per year as an aging sniper? (total a bit less than the $45-46...with the odds that he might not be any good after 35 years old...while there are very good odds he'll still be good and in high demand at 32...might even get more than the $30M...plus the cap keeps going up...).
