A few days ago, I was discussing with fans of the canucks about that trade idea:

Eller + Bourque

for

Burrows + 2nd round pick

In his defense, the Sedins are not having their best season. They haven't scored in over 20 games either.

If I could find the Patrick Roy photo asking you to get out.

I would post it.

i don't know if that's a "plan" though. it's certainly not an active one, unless you consider him not forfeiting draft picks as being active.
- DoubleDown

I think eventually that will change, probably fairly soon. But for now he seems to place great value on the draft and holding on to picks and prospects. I think once the org depth is better he will start making bigger moves. But so far he's shied away from trades. Especially involving futures.

Can't say I disagree with the approach.

Great points on Max. I didn't realize he was so high in G/G status. If you look at guys that have played at least 15 games (Stamkos only played 17 but you have to consider him), Max is # 5 in G/G.
1) Stamkos
2) Ovy
3) Steen
4) Neal
5) Paciorretty
6) Kessel

Let me guess - they were ok with it?
- hscesq

Hardly. They think Burrows is a very good player on their team when he's healthy (he has been injured almost all year).

He can score, he can kill penalties, he can hit and will disturb other teams.

I agree with that.

Not trading Eller.
Not trading Gorges either.

- EricEngels

Oh really? I felt that Eller keeps getting his role changed and has been kind of ineffective lately. I like him and I wish he could have a better opportunity. Gorges just seems like he could a valuable trade chip and we could have NB and JT move in. I would also be ok with Murray being resigned. Bottom six role but I like what he brings to the team.

why not? they are OK hockey players, nothing more. if they're part of a trade, they're part of a trade. hardly irreplaceable.
- DoubleDown

1. Trading Eller with his value in the poopter is not a winning proposition.

2. Trading Gorges at the trade deadline just isn't happening. Doesn't make any sense.

And if they're to chose between Gorges and Emelin down the line, pretty sure they're sticking with Gorges.

yeah i think he's still got an "incomplete" as GM. i think maybe he's been thrown by the team playing so much better than they were 2 years ago and it's made it harder for him to strip some assets like Markov and... well i guess it's just Markov.

Burrows is horrible right now. Bork for burrows straight up is a risk for the Habs because of the contract

I don't know. You're talking about the guy, who was traded for the guy, who was traded for Ryan Miller.

Anyone ever figure out who won that trade?

The Miller trade?

I'm thinking short term, St-Louis.
Long term, buffalo.

I think Saturday's game is another great example of why we should keep Markov.

Give him the 3 years he's asking for I say.

Eric i'm not suggesting MB call up rival GMs and offer these players. but to me, they're not core guys moving forward. you're talking about 2 players who on a lot of teams, are depth guys, no more. we all like to think Eller has more in him but it's becoming obvious that he's a 30-40 point centre who can play 2 ways. that's good but it's hardly irreplaceable. and i'm not getting into Gorges.
