You're really expecting Bergevin to do Something stupid a big splash at the trade deadline? Seems to me trade deadline is the worst moment to get a big player in terms of value as a buyer.

Or do you mean you expect him to sell when he's 3rd in the Eastern conference?

- QuebecPride

He's also gonna claim Conacher. I mean how does he pass that up?

They should extend Markov, but not Gionta. Also, he had all season long to adress the team weakness which are some size up front and maybe a top 4 D. He shouldn't go for a rental unless he extends him...

Beaulieu is immature and does not have the right work ethic yet.
- Champ

He's pretty close to be ready. He's like Subban in that department, he will have to be held back/brought back to earth every now and then when he gets overconfident in his play/relies too much on his talent instead of working hard.

Acquire Weaver, keep Markov. We're building through the draft but never actually giving the kids a crack at the lineup.... Brilliant.
- kev1586

is it possible that they trade a dman tomorrow, call up Beaulieu, and use Weaver as a veteran depth guy? because having a veteran depth guy is good when the two young guys haven't played a full season in the nhl combined. I don't understand the outrage over such a minor deal. and I think both gally's making the team last year shows mgmt is willing to play the kids. let's just wait and see.

I expect him to not lose Markov for nothing come July 1st. He has good value and can bring a good return. No he cannot replace his minutes right now, but he cannot let him go for nothing.

Subban is much more complete and while he is a bit overconfident he is much more coachable even if this isn't really a word...

He should be trading Markov if he doesn't agree to a deal.
- habby

Exactly! Put the screws to him. He does not want to leave. He signs a 2 year deal or he is traded. They are not cup contenders no matter what they think.

I would not be shocked to hear them announce a 2 year deal tomorrow. I'll be very upset if it's longer than 1.

He does not have Subban's work ethic. Subban was 3rd in team scoring and a + 48. Beaulieu can stay down until he matures. No need to rush him.

Count Subban, Markov, Gorges and Tinordi out. So that leaves Murray, Bouillon, Emelin and...Beaulieu.

if markov doesn't sign they have to move him, don't they? Gorges also seems expendable.
