Just heard this on the radio and I thought it made a lot of sense.

Habs needed a RD to fill in on the third pair.

They have Subban who plays 25 minutes, Emelin who plays 20 (but is already on his offside) and currently Tinordi who plays 15 on his offside. Weaver will cover those 15 minutes on the 3rd pairing.

The left side is already complete (although certainly not ideal) with Markov playing 25, Gorges 20 and Murray 15.

Ideally, Bergevin trades Murray tomorrow and Tinordi takes those 15 minutes on the 3rd pair. I don't expect it though since he has been saying countless times that D depth is important to him.

Ideal D squad:

Markov - Emelin
Gorges - Subban
Tinordi - Weaver
Bouillon

Next year:

Markov - Emelin
Tinordi - Subban
Beaulieu - Gorges
Pateryn/UFA/Weaver

What a crock of poop. Ideal squad? This ranks up there with the amero quote. I'm beginning to think you are in fact really high mr. peanut

May get his 50th of the season tonight. Not a bad rookie season

I was wondering how often he plays with Drouin. People keep telling me he doesn't play with him outside of PP and that they don't produce much on PP. I'm not sure if I was actually getting trolled on the PP part. Can't see an Ashley, Drouin, Ehlers, Weegar, Gadoury/Andrews/Ryan unit fail at scoring.

"He's a great warrior, played his rear end off for us every night, blocked, shots, killed penalties, so I wish him well."

Tallon's take on this Weaver fella.

Maybe not a bad deal after all for a 5th rounder.

Of course he's gonna say that.

By Ideal, I meant with what the team already possesses. 'Cause I don't expect many more moves. Sorry for the confusion.

Why in the hell would Bergevin trade Murray. Over the last 10 games, he's been their most efficient D. He has size and is about the only Dman we have that clears the front of the net. Plus you'll never get his worth to this team in a trade at this point. Trading Murray makes less sense than trading for Weaver IMO.
- kev1586

Maybe Murray's got some actual value ?

But Yes... I agree.

He's pretty fiesty. I think Asp nailed it this afternoon when he said we basically got a younger Bouillon. I have no problem with that.
- QuebecPride

he's 35 and useless so...great a younger Boullion, a player that should have retired right about when this (frank)er needs to retire which is yesterday.

Man that maritime division is weak. I wish the Phoenix would play in it, they'd make the playoffs

Good news is that the West Div will be weaker for the next few years. The Phoenix is the only bottom feeder in that div this year.

No guarantees, of course, but told by multiple league sources that the Canadiens have been working on a deal involving Rene Bourque.

I thought Bouillon acquitted himself well last season, given that it was a lockout season. This year though he took 'un coup de vieux' If we can get two more years out of Weaver for cheap, why not. There are worse 7th D's in the league.

No there aren't. When you're getting traded by FLA for a 5th your just about as poopty as poopty gets. Tallon sitting there saying 'ya we wanted to give this warrior a shot at the cup so we cut him some slack to MTL for a 5th' nonsense.

also what does it say to some of the lads in Hamilton working hard and oh hey look at that old balls for a fifth is higher up the ladder.

MIke Weaver runs a Dschool in the summer, maybe he's brought in to mentor the kids as Markov is gone tomorrow and we need depth:

Subban-Gorges
Beaulieu-Weaver
Tinordi-Murray
Emelin

And we get a top 6 for a pkg of Markov +

OR

I should just go to bed
