No there aren't. When you're getting traded by FLA for a 5th your just about as poopty as poopty gets. Tallon sitting there saying 'ya we wanted to give this warrior a shot at the cup so we cut him some slack to MTL for a 5th' nonsense.

also what does it say to some of the lads in Hamilton working hard and oh hey look at that old balls for a fifth is higher up the ladder.

- Pie

I think that if he's a good penalty killer and shot blocker, that takes some pressure off the other d for the PK.

And if he's good defensively, no liability if and when he's out there.

Not so sure some of the younger d in Hamilton could handle those minutes.

I think they noticed that both Beaulieu and Tinordi are not at ease on the right side. Pateryn still needs to get a step or two before being able to handle the NHL speed, so there aren't really any RD solution in Prospects/Hamilton, at least for the present.

Weaver was a 4th D for Florida. He can be a 6th right now for MTL.

Nothing says they'll keep him, but depending on how the experience goes, I wouldn't be against it. As you probably expect, I'm not a huge fan of trading picks for rentals, especially when you have one of the best talent finders in the game.

MIke Weaver runs a Dschool in the summer, maybe he's brought in to mentor the kids as Markov is gone tomorrow and we need depth:

Subban-Gorges
Beaulieu-Weaver
Tinordi-Murray
Emelin

And we get a top 6 for a pkg of Markov +

OR

I should just go to bed

I agree. I think his knee is healed and no more likely to be injured than if he never had surgery. But we're talking about a guy who has gotten hurt a fair amount in his career. You really think he's not getting hurt again just in general?
- habby

He has pretty good streak going on right now. Over 100 games straight.

the (frank), their PK is 4th in the league and unless I'm wrong it involved the kids at one point or another pretty much through the season. If this is the case its because he's moving someone tomorrow, Gorges, in the hopes that Beaver can cover for them and they won't slip to hard d wise. If thats the case fine, lets hope its a decent pick

No guarantees, of course, but told by multiple league sources that the Canadiens have been working on a deal involving Rene Bourque.

Why in the hell would Bergevin trade Murray. Over the last 10 games, he's been their most efficient D. He has size and is about the only Dman we have that clears the front of the net. Plus you'll never get his worth to this team in a trade at this point. Trading Murray makes less sense than trading for Weaver IMO.

I think Tinordi could do a better job than Murray in the same role. He's ready to play those minutes.

How about he doesn't move anything on the back end ? Habs are in a better position than exptected... why change it now ?

I agree. I've been really impressed with Murray's effort the 2nd half of the season. He's a very solid 3rd pairing and i thought he looked good with Tinordi. Tinordi's mobility is much better than it was at the start of the season as well.

Paul Stastny completed the scoring with an empty-netter with 32.6 seconds left. Rookie Nathan MacKinnon got an assist on Stastny's 20th goal, extending his point streak to 12 games, tying Wayne Gretzky's record for an 18-year-old set in 1979-80.
