I think Tinordi could do a better job than Murray in the same role. He's ready to play those minutes.

How about he doesn't move anything on the back end ? Habs are in a better position than exptected... why change it now ?

Finish the season and then unload.. ? no?

8th in goals against and 20th in goals for...lets shore up that 7th D spot.

Here's an idea.....let's keep BOTH
- braidan

If they keep both, one has to sit, and I'm afraid Tinordi will be the odd man out, considering the usage of Murray by Therrien.

Unless, they make Weaver the 7th D.

That would mean habs are still stuck with 5 Lefties on D and would make today's trade a head scratcher.

He's playing well on the PK, certainly. Something Tinordi is excellent at too. I'll give the edge to Murray on that part because of his experience. But outside of that and physical play which is pretty similar, Tinordi is a superior player(mobility, puck-carrying ability, first pass, puck retrieval, 1v1s, vision, shot).

I think you've undervalued Murray at this point. Yes he was tits on a bull to start but he has really impressed me lately and I like that 3rd pairing right now. I agree that Tinordi has improved on his foot speed but retrieval and first pass meh not sure about that. Eitherway i just don't see Weaver as an improvement on either one.

I think Price and Budaj have a lot to do with that. Habs D is average if not below that, but their goaltending has been stellar.

Weaver's better than both on the right side. That's what we have to get from that trade. I think Tinordi is superior to him as a D, but not on the right side. Weaver is not much of an improvement over Murray though, I agree. More mobile certainly, but less of a physical impact, even if he's no slouch in that department.

Goaltending is great.

D ain't that bad and the coaching system is way better than what fans think it is.

I know, I said that because I don't think we can look at the goals given and say with confidence that the Habs defense was not in need. That number lies a lot on the goaltenders.

Are there more pressing needs though? No doubt.

the only way Weaver sees ice is if there is an injury or they move someone better than him Gorges, Emelin or Murray for some offensive help. If they don't do that its a wasted pick.

We'll know more about their plan with Weaver tomorrow.

You could very well be right and they wasted a pick for a 7th D they won't use. I'm an optimistic person so I hope it's not the case, but it could be.

I agree to a point. Pretty sure Mtls D blocked more shots than Budaj faced last night, if not it was close. That is a measure of possession, does Price offer better opportunity with rebound control than Budaj, certainly but some of it has to land on the forward group being unable to compete in the offensive zone a little help there might ease some of the burden on D, no? Having said that MTLs D is hardly the best ever which is why Weaver is a conundrum. I appreciate that you have a way to try and make it digestible, I just don't agree.
