We'll know more about their plan with Weaver tomorrow.
You could very well be right and they wasted a pick for a 7th D they won't use. I'm an optimistic person so I hope it's not the case, but it could be. - QuebecPride
If a 5th in 2015 is better than most of the Ds you mentionned... this team is in trouble.
Weaver's gotta be an insurance policy. |

Its a strange one either way ( boys in Hamilton must be WTF) and I'll give Bergevin the benefit as he has a boatload more experience than I and I hope to (frank) it makes sense sooner rather than later |

I know Pie.
But no body gets younger at the trade deadline, unless you're in a rebuild.

I agree to a point. Pretty sure Mtls D blocked more shots than Budaj faced last night, if not it was close. That is a measure of possession, does Price offer better opportunity with rebound control than Budaj, certainly but some of it has to land on the forward group being unable to compete in the offensive zone a little help there might ease some of the burden on D, no? Having said that MTLs D is hardly the best ever which is why Weaver is a conundrum. I appreciate that you have a way to try and make it digestible, I just don't agree. - Pie
No problemo.
Habs like most teams, have to get better at keeping possession and retrieving it. Both D's/forwards require improvement in that aspect.
Lack of size for one is certainly a factor for the Habs, but size solely doesn't make a player better with the puck.
Murray is huge and does a great job on the PK, but he's as bad as you can get when it comes to puck possession. He's good at separating players from the puck but his problem is that he has to get there first. And if he manages to get the puck, you're not expecting much from him, it's the puck in the glass(loss of possession in most cases) or a pass to his partner who'll move it forward. |

Bourque has asked Bergevin to trade him. Wow! Does he know no one wants him.

Dude... common... we aren't in november.
Murray's been way better than what you describe. ?He's a better (frank)ing puck handler than Gorges.... and on par with Emelin. |

I don't think he's that much better than Tinordi or Murray overall currentl, but at least playing on the right is natural to him.
It could be simply an insurance policy too.
Tomorrow should give us much needed answers. |

What month or what year we're in has nothing to do with my judgement. Murray is a terrible player with the puck and even if he's good in physical battles, he's not ultimately good at retrieving the puck because he's slow as (frank) and barely ever gets to the player with the puck.
You know why he's good on the PK? Because the play is static and he doesn't have to move as much.
Emelin and Gorges shouldn't be in the same phrase as Murray when it comes to puck-management. |

I've been on your side with the 'trade' today.

I don't think you understood my point. Unlike those advanced stats guru, I don't solely nor mostly use advanced stats to evaluate a player, nothing beats actually seeing him play.
Murray has done fine. But he's also a possession blackhole. The facts are there. |

Well, if his sources are credible, they ain't gonna sign him.
I hope MB uses his head on this one... - pete26
If Markov doesn't sign tomorrow I hope they trade him as much as I love Markov, I'd hate to lose him for nothing inthe summer. |

I don't think he's saying the Habs won't resign. He's saying that the Habs will move him if a team throws them an offer they can't refuse.
If that doesn't happen, they'll keep him and extend him before he turns UFA. |
