Yet Murray was traded for 2 2nd last year... Try again. |

Yeah well it's always like that. At the begining of the year everyone wanted to trade DD for a bag of pucks...now no one's talking about trading him. - BashCH
The pucks were old. |

Try again? No, I am extremely pleased with my initial effort. There is no chance Gionta brings back a 2nd round pick. How you can compare what Murray brought and what Gionta could bring is quite telling though. |

I can confirm: no substance to rumour rival GM *literally* peed pants laughing when Nonis floated Clarkson in possible deal ...

Eller had value last year. Again, they're shopping a player when his value is at the lowest. - _nay_
If Eller was playing up to expectations they would not trade him. It's not like we have a abudance of big talented centers. |

With the injury to Scheifele in Winnipeg, Eller may be of interest. |

Unfortunately in Eller's case his size is irrelevant and the talent is questionable. He's like a defensively reliable Joe Colbourne, hype included. |

He will never be more than a 3rd line center. |

Funny thing is, Gionta might be more useful than Murray was...Gionta might be "overqualified" for 3rd line minutes (which would be his role on a REAL contender)...
Murray was exposed as being the beneficiary of SJ's strong roster and defensive game...didn't work out so well in Pit...and it's so-so with the habs.

I wouldn't call his size irrelevant. He does use it from time to time. Just not consistently. He's certainly an enigma. |

Could be. I don't think he's overqualified for 3rd line minutes. I mean, he's pretty much a third liner here, even if we don't call it that. As for Murray, he is what he is. He brings certain things to the table and he does them well. He's slow, he's clumsy and he has zero offensive upside. But that's not what he's around for. |

Yeah.
He has good skills, but I think his ice vision is the issue. Doesn't know what to do with the puck in the offensive zone. |

For sure that's it. He lacks instinct. Put DD's skills in his body, and he'd be quite the player. I guess you could give DD his size in the alternative. Either would work. |
