If you think Toews and Kane are getting 12 million a year you're out to lunch. - rollpards19
Perry and Getzlaf contracts are best comparables for now, and then adjust if Cap screams higher.

I am not about to try to compare Bickell,
Kesler or
Saad,
but
if you TRADE Saad, you lose a whole lot off the presnet roster, and even all the superlatives I could say I have for kesler, he doesn't have what the young horse has.
Kesler for Saad might make us a tougher contender in some aspects and give the fans the 2nd line centre they have been "waiting" for, but long term I don't know if you can replace that...
Bickell is replaceable, Saad is too quick all around and far too dangerous to send off in a trifling. - wiz1901
Kesler is 29 and has been injury prone....No need for more key strokes.

I would agree with this move too or Marcel Goc. I think the second line center everyone wants is on this roster - Marcus Kruger. Kid is ready to take it up a level and every time I see him with Kane in the middle of a game, they produce. Give him a longer period of time to adjust here. If you get Maholtra or Goc they can move into the fourth line role so then you have three centers in your lineup who are excellent on faceoffs with Toews, Kruger, and Goc/Malholtra plus Zus either riding the pine or in the lineup at wing. |

I think 2C negates a lot of positive aspects of his games and Q's ability to deploy the forward lines in such a favorable manner. - rollpards19

In what way? - Elbows15
So every line but the Kruger line gets favorable offensive zone starts, while the Kruger line starts almost every shift defensively. This utilizes Kruger's faceoff ability, as a d-zone draw is very important and can help alleviate pressure, so that's a useful skill of Kruger's negated by the fact the Kane line is in the offensive zone more than anyone. Plus, defensive positioning and instincts are probably the strongest part of Kruger's game, and you'd be negating that skill by, in theory, having him play in the ozone more playing with Kane.
I love Kruger, but he isn't very creative and doesn't find open ice very well, two things that are crucial to playing in the zone with Patrick Kane. Another, when that line would have to play defense, Kruger and his linemates rely a ton on winning board battles along the wall to get the puck to an open man, who then chips it out. Kane's a great player, but board play in his own zone is a major weakness. This probably limits Kruger's ability to be as effective defensively.
Also, Kruger often gets matched against quality competition, which is something Kane can do, but he is much more effective getting third line forwards and second pairing d. This most likely means Q gives more d-zone starts to Shaw, and has the third line play a higher quality of opponent, which is bad because that line kind of sucks, and they'd likely get exposed. Plus it breaks up undeniable chemistry between Smith and Krugs, who are especially effective in the o-zone in the cycle game, which is the exact opposite game Kane wants to play. |

Ok. Some very good points. The only thing I will say is O-zone faceoffs with Kane would be equally as important considering having possession in the O-zone with Kane on the ice is something you want. Another of Kruger's strengths is getting to the net which creates space. But I understand your reasoning. |

if bowman doesnt make a trade (lets be real-very likely he won't), then hopefully he brings over Tuevo and gives him a shot with the big club..if he is as good as people keep saying then his size shouldn't be a big issue (see- PKane, RNH, skinner, ect..) |

If he is the one stealing it, I shudder at the thought of what he's doing with it in the privacy of his own home.
