Like it or not, I think Bowman is going to try to plug in Teravainen at the end of the month. - EKolb13
Barring something unforeseen in the next two days, I would expect TT to suit up for the 3/28 game against the Senators. I don't think Stan would want his intro to the NHL game be against the Bruins the night before and this keeps him at only 8 games played for the year if he plays out the schedule. |

That would be amazing, just to see if he can contribute right off the bat as we go into the playoffs. Can u just imagine this teams offensive firepower if TT can produce instantly AND if Bickell rounds into form? |

Damn, work late and miss much. I hope we can get Kessler. The rumored offer sounds fair. If they wanna go with TT & picks over Leddy, fine. WTF would we bother with and pay large for Brodeur??? Makes no sense. |

I think the Hawks offer of Bickell, Leddynand McNeil is the very best deal the Canucks will receive. Because of that I feel like Gillis will pluck it up again and not trade Kesler and the Canucks will super tank. The Canucks are the worst franchise in the NHL. |

I'd be ok with that deal but Stan would have to make another move to replace Leddy, both in the short term and long term.
I may be in the minority, but I don't want Kesler. I don't think he's worth the assets it would take to get him. |

At the risk of pizzing folks off for a topic from last thread, I just want to post my response to Mohel's laye post, which I missed by several hours, because I think it underscores the need to improve vis-a-vis plugging a gaping hole, and shows the miscalculation in pooh-poohing the Blues:
I went through the Hawks and Blues seasons so far and here's a breakdown of the number of times they've scored.
0 1 2 3 3+
Blues - 2 6 16 13 23
Hawks 1 8 17 9 27
Hawks have scored less than three goals two more times than the Blues. They have also played two more games than the Blues. In all, the distribution looks pretty similar to me. Note, I did not include the "shoot out" goal in the totals, since I don't believe it is a hockey goal.
- mohel
Thank you! This is a very telling stat. The two twams essentially score at the same rate. I think this disproves the "Blues can't score goals" theory. |

Agreed.
I'm okay with the idea of Kesler, but not with what Bowman would have to trade to get him. |

Kessler can be a monster if healthy - the question - how much does he have left as injuries have taken its toll the last few years. He layed it all on the line during the 2010-1 season - basically won the first two playoff series for the knuckleheads.
in the end, you move bickel and leddy can be replaced. McNeil, where does he fit in a few years? |

But does that deal make sense for the Canucks? They are already weak down the middle so not getting and NHL centre back would make things worse for them. McNeill may be NHL ready in a couple years but they need a body right now. If the Canucks were seriously considering trading Kesler to Chicago (highly unlikely) they would be looking at Kruger or Shaw to be part of the package. Again, I'd have to pass. In his prime Kesler is better than both, but he's not in his prime and we'd have him for only 2 more seasons. Kruger and Shaw we could have (at reasonable deals) for another 5.

Scoring is not nearly as balanced at forward for top end scorers. Blues defenders score goals. |

Their goal total for the year also confirms this. The argument about their goal scoring is that in the playoffs there will be less depth scoring and that their top talent can't score enough to carry the load. I'm not sure I buy that - I think the Blues can score fine. However, when the Hawks play their best they shut down teams pretty well. So, we shall see how that plays out.
The reason for the post you quoted was to address the question of whether the Hawks are inconsistent in the scoring; with lots of high-scoring games and lots of low-scoring games. I thought the distribution showed that the Blues and Hawks offenses are very similar in terms of consistency. |
