Who knows what's true in the deal. He's got the contractual right to go where he wants or nowhere at all. But if he asked out, you'd think he'd be willing to go to more places. The locals will be restless if they get a lesser deal because he refused a better one. It'll be even more fun for him if he turns down a good one and stays. - mohel

There you are...
Marty St.Louis is doing the same. Has a no trade clause, demands trade, but will not approve trade to anywhere but NYR? That's extortion. If you demand a trade, your negotiated right to veto any trade should be null and void. - Ogilthorpe2
It is a no-trade clause, not a "trade me to the team of my choice" clause. Not only that, but if the joint you're at is soooooo bad that you ask out, I don't get why you'd lessen your chances of getting out. I'd lose some respect for a guy on the Hawks that did that. |

so gillis won't accept Pittsburghs offer, he doesn't want to go to NY to play for AV again, he won't accept Columbus, he won't stay in Canada
this sounds more and more like gillis sits on moving a player because his ego doesn't like the return
the few teams that actually want him and he would go to are probably offering dog poop in return and gillis likely will just hold on to him - FourFeathers773
Didn't we see this chaos last year with Luongo/Schneider. Gillis tells the world he is going to trade Luongo....that he will not be a Canuck anymore thus killing any leverage he has with BobbyLu's megaton contract. I said the guy he needed to trade was Schneider.....he would get the most return and have the potential to replenish the franchise instead of rebuild......... but because he showed his hand with Luongo word got out he wanted everything under the sun.....the Blackhawks actually had the best offer on the table but he wouldn't pull the trigger because it was the hawks......so he has an offer from the Hawks....no other offers to make him happy......then ends up trading Schneider for less than he would've received at the deadline last year and pisses of Luongo.....who thought he would be in net with another team......now he is doing the same with Keslan.......and we wonder why the Canuck fans are crazy..... |

Olympics totally underwhelming. So how do you feel if you are not an olympian and your team mate goes there and gets hurt for the huge honor of being able to shower with Toews and Crosby at the same time, and now puts your team and its goals in jeopardy.?
I am sure I am violating the hockey "Code" by even asking this.
The shower line will make my top 5 for this month Ogi.. - TrueGrit
I've been asking the same for years. How is it acceptable to ditch the teammates you've been playing with for months or even years, mid-season, risking injury and thereby sabotaging the Stanley Cup hopes of the team who pays your salary to go play in some farce fantasy league tournament? It's selfish....that's the ony word for it. Selfish. |

Sort of, except that the team has the option of keeping you. If your goal is to get out, limiting it to one of two teams seems a bit counter-productive. |

Yep, kudos for getting it. But it doesn't give control over whether he's traded or not, only the right to say no. It may blow up in his face and make the rest of his stay in Van City less than ideal. |

I really have no idea who to root for for those 7 and 8 seeds: minny, dallas, phoenix, jets, or vancover. I still think we end up at 2 against avs, so who between those teams will give the Blues and Ducks biggest problems? I bet whoever they play they sweep anyway - tomcat24
I wouldn't get on a sweep between ANY two teams in this league: more than any of the other leagues, "on any given Sunday" rules in the NHL.
Vancouver might wind up the most dys-functional, but any of those bubble teams could push any top seed to 6, maybe 7. |

It's crap. Like I said, once you demand a trade, your right to refuse any trade should be void. NTC is designed to prevent a player from being traded, unexpectedly, to somewhere he doesn't want to go, not to give the player absolute control. |
