It's crap. Like I said, once you demand a trade, your right to refuse any trade should be void. NTC is designed to prevent a player from being traded, unexpectedly, to somewhere he doesn't want to go, not to give the player absolute control. - Ogilthorpe2
you do have a point. |

Maybe. But if teams want to throw them around like candy, they are creating their own mess. - Elbows15
True. The idea with these clauses is to keep a team from trading you somewhere down the line if your skills diminish; to make it a dual commitment for the term of the deal. It was Kesler that wanted out, though, and now both of them are playing chicken. I'm with Ogi on this one; I'd write the clause so that once the player asked out, he lost his right to reject the trade. It's okay, though, because we get to watch the cluster unfold! |

Who knows what's true in the deal. He's got the contractual right to go where he wants or nowhere at all. But if he asked out, you'd think he'd be willing to go to more places. The locals will be restless if they get a lesser deal because he refused a better one. It'll be even more fun for him if he turns down a good one and stays. - mohel
This isn't going to be done tonight, because I want to do more teams, but it's interesting so far. I did the Hawks and Bruins from last year. Didn't count defensemen, so that's maybe a different project all together. But the Hawks top six went from scoring 55% of the goals in the regular season (team total) to 64% in the playoffs. The depth scoring was virtually unchanged, going from 24% RS to 22% playoffs. But the proportion of forward goals re: top 6 vs bottom 6, the gap widened in the playoffs from 70/30 to 73/27
For the Bruins, (team total) the top 6 scored 56% in the RS and 55% in the playoffs. Bottom six (team total) 22% RS 18% playoffs. Again, the gap in proportional scoring re: top vs bottom widened, leaving the B's with 75/25 in the playoffs, compared to 71/29 in the regular season.
These numbers aren't wide gaps, but they are there. And I'm not even sure if it's statistically significant yet due to the small sample, but it's something I'll keep working on this week. It'll be interesting to see. I'm thinking of doing every team that wins a round, so 8 teams a year, and then seeing if there's any correlation between depth production and success, or whether failure is more common amongst top 6 players. |

That sneaky c**t waits 'til a few days after the Olympics to play the tough guy in Ukraine #COMMIEPIZZACHIT. - philco28
Not to defend him, but do you really think it was a coincidence that the Ukranian opposition made their big push to overthrow the Putin backed government the week the Olympics started?
He may be a Commiepizzachit, but the timing was not of his choosing. |

Possibly not and in fairness...i hear he did consult the Parliament or whatever body they have over there, but Putin was prolly itching for a fight and he's wasted no time escalating the situation. |

Hey, Ogi:
Bulls went from tying an NBA record with only 3 turnovers Sunday against the Knicks to a season high 28 tonite against Brooklyn.
How does that happen? |

He consulted the Russian-dominated government of the Crimean region of Ukraine, I think, which asked for his help.

As far as I am concern. The US should stay out of it entirely. Let the rest of the world deal with it. If it doesn't resolve to their satisfaction. Tough. And if the world comes knocking on our door, slam the (frank)er in their faces.
