That's true, but I don't think they can say half the stuff we do on tv. |

Makes sense and I hope he does play here. I'm hoping this is another Kruger situation where he comes over and plays down the stretch and in the postseason. - golfbard
It's entirely possible that things could shake out this way... |

Ek just posted Brodeur to the Wild could be close according to MSG's Deb Placey. In other words, they are close to acquiring Halak. |

Actually, this is not Eklund's rumor, so it could very well be Brodeur to the Wild. |

It would be very tough to make it work, maybe impossible....But of all the rumors the 2nd goalie is the one I give a 2nd thought.
Unusual but 2 Cup winners will be available maybe 3.....
For those who listen to the NHL network I will be on today at 12:05 CST. - Al
Brodeur would be a nice backup to have for a REPEAT RUN. Love Raanta...but we're going for the 'PEAT.

Apparently Brodeur is starting tonight, so this trade would have to be done stat to allow the Devils to restructure their lineup. |

If the Hawks give up Bickell for Brodeur (assuming this to cover the cap hit), how do the Hawks replace Bickell? |

Brodeur's going to sully his 'legacy' if he leaves NJ. He's not winning the Cup if he goes to Minne. |

I just don't think you trade a key player for more or less an insurance policy. |

A 2nd goalie would indeed be a nice addition. The thing I wonder about is the cap space - if the goalie has any kind of contract the Hawks would need to move a roster player for a guy who is unlikely to play in the post-season. - mohel
Agree....That's why a Derek Smith or maybe a Marcel Goc type is all that happens. |

I love his rumor tracker
'Wild in on Halak, not Brodeur'
two rumors later...
"Wild to trade for Brodeur"
Ok then |

He probably won't win a cup, but I doubt he sullies his legacy in NJ. In all, Brodeur getting traded to help the Devils get something in return to build upon would probably endear him to the Devils fans even more.
He's also a UFA. He could sign with the Devils again if he still wants to play or if the Devils wanted him back. |

Deb Placey is wired into NJ and doesn't write trade rumors.
Minny has room to make some interesting adds...
I was thinking Vanek could go to.

Seriously. They can't sit still. No wonder they can't win anything. So much change, no consistency or time to create chemistry. |

His cap hit is $4.5M, so even if NJ keeps one-half of that hit, the Hawks will need to lose $2.25M in salary. Raanta would be $925 of that, which leaves $1.325M. The Hawks only have $837K in space, so they'd need to lose a roster player and not replace him. |

Replace Bickell ? He's playing about 8 minutes a night and seems to be Q's personal toilet paper. Hope there's a method to Q's game playing with 29.
Brodeur would be a nice backup, but i'm under no illusions that he will landing at ORD for the stretch run.
I know Ogi will be though

Which more or less proves Brodeur is not coming to Chicago. I'm still ok with Rannta if Craw gets hurt. What happened in 2010 when the Hawks rode a rookie goalie? |
