Let me know when you get to the part of your gospel where you turn water into wine.

- EKolb13

That's prolly never gonna happen. Water, Barley, yeast, and hops into Beer Maybe. Beer into pee, well that's an easy one.

Fair enough..I am not ready to make that next step yet in the relationship. The paradigm definitely changed with the addition of Regin. Many have inferred that all this stuff has just been a season long fillibuster to get TT here, if so, kudos to them as well. Will be interesting to see how that plays out.

All things being equal, while the hawks in essense stood pat this year, many other teams have improved. Not just adding personnel, but in the oft forgotten growth/evolution of their own guys. Jaden Schwartz and Tarasenko, for example on St. Louis, make them a more dynamic team than many want to give credit.

San Jose is my team this year to win cup. Not out of spite, just my gut feeling. They played the last month or two without Hertl and Couture and will be strong down the stretch with Torres and Burish serving as experienced lower line bangers.

I still chuckle at those scheduling the rest for guys so they are ready for the playoffs. Championships are never won with this psychology. The premiss is that you are so good, you can just turn it on as needed, when it just does not work that way. This Handzuis love and belief is just bizzaro world stuff.

Morin may get another audition. Any word if Pirri is headed to Panthers or their AHL team? Barkov is out there and that team needs to score more.

- TrueGrit

Oh yeah Brandon Pirri is the answer to that
You mean the way the rested Rosival all year last year then rode him in the playoffs? Yeah that would never work.

Cam Barker was drafted #3. When Leddy was playing important minutes the Hawks were certainly not the NHLs best team. When they traded for Oduya and made Leddy a third pairing defensemen with little to no defensive responsibility, they became the best team in the league.

Kind of shocking and then not so surprising to read that there are a number of teams that figure E Kane is 'not worth the trouble'. Hope it gets back to him, maybe he'll shape/straighten/grow up.

In the game against Nashville, thought it was good of Maurice to play him on the 3rd line with Buff and Ollie.

Verse 1 is exactly correct. Agents know that the cap is going up. They, like other teams' GMs, are not in business to make the Hawks better. When the team wants a longer-term deal it is partly to lock in the player to a known number - smart move when the cap is expected to go up. The agent knows this and advises the player that a longer deal means he'll be underpaid by the end of it (assuming he's not old). To offset this, they need to raise the AAV to about where they believe the market will be at the midpoint of the contract. Not doing so would be malpractice. This causes people on message boards to moan and groan that "so-and-so equal player who signed two years ago only makes x." As a service, they should include in press releases the % of the current cap space the contract eats. 1.7% for Bollig - Stan's a wild man!!

If Kessler's healthy, I make that deal - even throw in a second/third rounder. With Clendenning and Danault and TT waiting in the wings, the only loss is Bickell, who's a monster in the playoffs. Leddy played sparingly in the playoffs and McNeil is nothing... But Kessler and Kane - thats too good to pass up.

I would not give up TT for him though. I'm sure thats what Gillis is holding out for...

- busmaster

* Bickell, who was a monster once in the playoffs, his entire time here in Chicago

* Leddy might be their top defenseman in 2-3 years

* McNeil was a first round pick who has done nothing to lose his value in his time in the Hawks organization. Saying he is "nothing" is pretty laughable.

Oduya has been a vastly underrated addition to the Hawks, and your description is dead-on. You are a wiz with this computer thing - what's the Hawks regular season record since he arrived?

Recently spoke with a Western Conference scout from a Cup contending team...

Evander Kane came up and I mentioned about all the baggage that keeps being brought up.

He looked at me without hesitation and said they would take him in heart beat, and they wouldn't be alone...

As for the Hawks....Bowman said on Saturday night Pirri and Morin are dominant AHL players-24 hours later he traded Pirri.

You can connect the dots on Morin as he won't be called up for tomorrow's game to fill in for Hossa.

Outside of that.... almost 100% no player will be traded off the roster and maybe there will be a depth move by Wednesday.

What's up Hawk fans? Pirri dealt, Bollig re-upped 3 ys- No more dmen playing forward: Comments on Bowman presser-3/2:http://bit.ly/1g2xhzw

You (frank)ers are hard to keep up with today.

Ogi Chapter 14 verse 1

Re Bollig: With large projected increases to the cap looming, people seem to immediately interpret increased cap space as meaning more $ available for the Kane's and Toews' of the world. While that's true, it's also going to mean a substantial relative increase to all player, even 4th line winger/pugilists. "A rising tide lifts all boats"...so to speak. Congrats to B52, he's earned it.

Ogi Chapter 14 verse 2

Re Handzus/2C: I'm not sure if Zeus can pull off another successful Cup Run at 2C or not, but a lot of the commentary, especially that which focuses on his speed, is beginning to remind a lot of the Sopel bashing that took place on this thread before the playoffs started in 2010. Many people on this board were ready to trade Sopel for a roll of tape that Spring, only to be pining for him to be brought back a year later. Sopel went from a slug to a warrior in one post season. Can Zeus do it again? I have my doubts, but he's been a solid pro for a lot of years, and Stan seems to have a pretty good grasp on this team's makeup, so, if no further moves are made, I'm giving both of them the benefit of the doubt.

This is the word of the lord.

Zing!

To be fair though, most D-men Leddy's age have barely sniffed the NHL. He's still very young by NHL D-man standards, and I think people tend to lose sight of this because of how long he's been with the big club.

Hi Al. I agree with your view on the Hawks at the TDL. But how do you reconcile that with the rumors that JJ has posted here, which I'm sure are an accurate reporting of what he's heard? Just curious.
