Sure, I'll "defend" my buddies, while you "defend" a blackhawks loss by blaming and crying about the refs.

Avalanche scored more than the Blackhawks. Blackhawks couldn't get the puck to the back of the net and Crawford didn't keep enough out. Pretty simple in my eyes.

- HawkFan27

You ref right ? Please explain the call on Oduya to me ? He's battling with Stastny for a puck only a few feet away, doesn't do anything glaring and is sent off in a hard fought 2-2 game with under 10 minutes to play ?

LET 'EM PLAY

Never mind...So trade them for what? A 2C so maybe they can win a cup or two?
- Ogilthorpe2

I am grateful that I have seen a SC championship team, 2x, but all I am saying is that Toews, Kane, Sharp, Keith, Seabrook, Kane, Hossa are not getting any younger, and every season that they play into the playoffs takes something out of them. If you are constantly going to expect that being down a strong 2nd line will not negatively effect you, then you are not thinking correctly. Either get someone for them, or see what you can get to improve the overall team.

The call on Oduya that decided the game was a typical bumphuck zebra call.
But defend your buddies all night. It's all good.

- philco28

Sorry Phil, but it was also an awful time for the PK to fail...especially since the PP had produced several minutes earlier.

Hawks just aren't a great team this year, and it's becoming more apparent with each regulation lose since the calendar flipped to 2014.

It'll be interesting seeing what changes take place from now until puck drop next season.

Hossa is doing well with Toews and Sharp - he'll wind up with his most goals as a Hawk.

Kane - through about 40 games - was having his best scoring season - how did that happen? How do they get back to that?

- StLBravesFan

They don't, Kaner does. And its doubtful he can be a player of that caliber for an entire year. He has to be an elite PP producer, and he hasn't been recently, not great decisions with the puck. He'll never be amazing at even strength, but he has to start making better decisions on the PP. They should run the overload more with some Toews/Kane give and gos

That this team is going absolutely nowhere as is. If they don't make a move tomorrow this team won't make it past Colorado.

Well now that they got Matthais (and tallon has BOTH the Stanley Cups goalies from 2011 Finals) The Canucks don't need a centre in any package...

Just a whole lot more than Leddy & Bickell....

Yeah, in so mnay games and in the playoffs they don't call that, but Oduya laid him down and the hawks were in strong possession already to go the other way...

Uber weak call from the angle i saw and Stastny wasn't going to get to the puck carrier (Hammer) with a jet pack on his back. #WEAK CALL

Honestly what were you like when they were the worst team in the league? I can't imagine even being more negative.
- rollpards19

Do you have a problem with your short term memory? Because I was thrilled with the Penguin win and made that point known.

But if you can take pleasure, or see promise in tonights lose I must admit that your optimism is impressive to behold.

I just can't share your optimism because what I see on the ice doesn't suggest to me that there's a parade coming to Chicago this spring...

...not if they continue to play the way they have since Jan. 1

Definitely. How could the Hawks ever beat Colorado in a playoff series. Let alone beating the Blues in a regular season game! The horror! You know what would make the Hawks a better playoff team? Beating the Blues in shootouts. I hope you bet a lot of money on the Hawks losing, I really do.

@MarkLazerus: Q says #Blackhawks will go with eight defensemen down the stretch.
- DarthKane

So that means no forwards on the taxi squad, since Hossa is out but not on LTIR, right?

Handzus and Regin every game until Hossa gets back.

- StLBravesFan

Funny how that Kotska was claimed because we need to have the options to move guys up and down...now you basically have the same situation with Rundblad because he was their press box Kotska.

I guess you will have to wait to see Bouchard and Morin in the playoffs...AHL playoffs.

Nope...but we seem to agree on this years club.

But I'm not calling for SB to make any moves tomorrow...not unless they'll benefit the club going forward.

I just don't think it's the Hawks year...they just ain't right.

And just to add...my "negativity" is due to disappointment. My expectations for this club were thru the roof coming off the cup win...120 points perhaps?

...and they can't even blame it on injuries.

I should know better...

did you watch the game Rob?The Hawks owned them. The difference in this game was goaltending. Plain and simple. The Avs had maybe 4 quality chances the whole game. And you knowI rarely blame the goalie. Tonight is on Crawford. You speak as if they are being dominated. Its not the case.

I've been reading this for well over a year, finally decided to join today? Why does that even matter? And explain to me why you are so confident in this team going foward instead I'd just making snide remarks to your pals?

A 2-6-3 record against both teams just oozes optimism!
