I have said from day one of this fiasco that Kesler doesn't get traded.

So what's up, Kessler get traded yet?

I listened to Rosi on the radio today say they'd likely cave and include Pouliot, and even add more if that wasn't enough.

Sutter, Pouliot, 1st and 3rd and maybe add Despres, Dumolin or Bennett if Gillis played his cards right. But the offer you wrote is the initial according to Rosi.

- Scooby_Doo

Rob Rossi is an idiot. He is the clown he predicted James Neal would score 18 goals in 2012 and he scored 40.

I know you guys want to sound optimistic... but trust me, don't put your faith into Rossi.

How does this guy have any credibility? Do people in Toronto take him seriously?

Thats was said much later,,, a change up actually....nice try. More twisting...

How could his slow developement before he arived land on AV? Thats what we are talking about.... try and keep up.

- boonerbuck

Not twisting and I didn't even say you were wrong. You're trying to twist Gillis' words, not me. Who said anything about his slow development before he got to Vancouver? I just added that he didn't develop as quickly once he got here due to AV's usage of him.

All Gillis said when he acquired him was that he was NHL ready and could help them and was still developing. He never indicated he would be anything more than a 3rd or 4th liner. He actually said that we'll see how much he ends up being able to contribute.

AV not giving him the chance was typical AV. We saw it time and time again with him. Contribute with the Sedins for 5 games, then back to the 4th line to play 8 minutes a game.

We're not.

Even his "high end" proposed deal isn't enough to get Kesler.

You're not going to get him for a package that doesn't include assets you're loathe to give up.

The Canucks don't have to trade him.

And they won't, if it doesn't improve the team—none of the suggestions Rossi made do.

im not going to lie, I really think you guys overvalue Ryan Kesler. If you look at deals... Staal, Richards, Carter, etc... how do you plan on getting that much more? i'm serious, I just curious.

Fantasy question.

Points only keeper league, who would you keep between Pavelski or Steen and why?

Fine. We expect to get Schenn and Simmonds then. That's what Richards was traded for.

I could definitely live with Pouliot, 1st, Bennett for sure if Edler gets moved for a young top 6 F(or a player with realistic/probable top 6 upside).

Pouliot is a pretty damn good prospect. But can you understand why we're not super stoked about getting a 3rd line center an a 26-30th 1st in a projected weak draft? Look at it from both angles. I can see why Pens fans don't wanna give up Pouliot, but Kesler would put you guys over the top this year and for the next 2 years after that. Pouliot is no lock to become a core player as promising as he may be, and Sutter is what he is. And late 1st rounders are far from locks to develop into solid NHL'ers.

Kesler is better than Staal, and the Canucks are not in a position where they have to trade Kesler to only one team like Pitts was.

I don't expect more than Richards got—but the proposed PIT offers don't even approach that.

Schenn was widely considered the top offensive prospect in the world at the time, and they got Simmonds and a 2nd n top of it.

The offer is simply too low, and if you think it even comes close to what Richards got, you are the one overvaluing your assets.

Better hope the new rules KB3Point0 suggested on the pool board aren't popular
- Fosco

The "penalties" were just what I thought up as I wrote it. Could come up with something better given more time, but you asked for ideas. Same with the number of mulligans. I was just trying to help by providing a starting point to get something in place to address the issue.

As for the general ideas of incenting people to dress lineups, I stand by it. Otherwise the pool structure needs to change and it shouldn't be weekly matchups (which is pretty ridiculous as everyone has built their teams for this type of pool). If there is no penalty I, along with half the pool, would likely throw all our players on the bench for the entire season the second we were out of the running for the playoffs. We already saw numerous people do similar things. Just wrecks the integrity of the pool.

Im taking Staal at the 2012 draft over Kesler today, sorry.

Sutter > Simmonds
1st > 2nd
Despres/Dumolin < Schenn

kind of confused here.

If I forget to set my roster ONE day I lose my first round pick?
No thanks, that's the dumbest rule ever.

- Scooby_Doo

That wasn't what I said. It's also just an idea to build off of as per Fosco's request. The number of mulligans and the potential "penalties" can easily be adjusted or altered altogether.

You do realize Staal was heading into the last year of his contract and everybody knew he was going to sign to play with his brothers... Kind of ridiculous to compare a player that will be around for 3 playoff runs signed to an awesome contract to a player heading into free agency....
