Im taking Staal at the 2012 draft over Kesler today, sorry.

Sutter > Simmonds
1st > 2nd
Despres/Dumolin < Schenn

kind of confused here.

I think you lose us there. Staal basically demanded to go to Carolina, everyone knew he wanted to okay with big bro Eric. Kesler can probably be traded to 3 or 4 other teams if Pitt doesn't offer enough and can be kept for another 2 seasons after this one. You'd get him for 3 playoff runs, and I'm sorry but Kesler is better than Staal.

How is Sutter better than Simmonds, just because he plays center? Ad that 1st is a late one in a projected weak draft.

you mean the wayne Simmonds who had 3 full NHL seasons and his career high in goals was 16?

I was talking about Staal and Kesler on ice. Obviously given the situation, i'd take a signed Kesler. We never would have gotten rid of Staal had he not wanted to go to Carolina.

and there were actually more teams involved than just Carolina... the Rangers and even your Canucks inquired about him.

Sutter is a better all around player than Simmonds was at the time. he is more established and a more useful player. simple as that.

He still was always thought of to have more offensive upside than Sutter. Look at their junior PPG rates during their final two seasons....Plus he's tougher and more physical.

Sutter is not even close to better than Simmonds. Then or now.

The 1st will be a 25th to 30th overall.

Not even going to comment on Depres/Dumolin because they have little value to the Canucks.

Even with Pouliot it's not close, because the Canucks need forward prospects, not D.

I don't think PIT has the assets to get this done...

Ahh yes, we all know that only goals count, that's why Kunitz is a god and a half.

Kesler is better than Staal on the ice. And contract situation plays apart in trade value, does it not?

And are you really comparing a 25 year old Sutter to a 22/23 year old Wayne Simmonds back then?

Nobody will be punished for missing setting their lineup once.

Holy crap. Try to help a brother out and everyone loses their freakin' minds.

You asked for thoughts and ideas. I threw one out with some consequences I came up with on the fly, as well as a random number of "mulligans." It was meant to incent a conversation to help Commissioner Fosco, not to be put in as is for a vote.

I just didn't feel you should be responsible for thinking of everything yourself and that it might help you if a few of us could at least provide a few ideas. As you know, everyone has lives and all...

Better hope the new rules KB3Point0 suggested on the pool board aren't popular
- Fosco

Yeah I think if you miss more then one day in a row ...strikes (not sure how many but it is a fun league don't want to kick someone out if they have a bad couple weeks or such)...and not because u accidentally screwed up because of a roster add or something.

and look at Max Talbot junior's stats. If you are going to base your valuation of a NHL player based off of their junior stats, youre going to have a bad day.

and Sutter is a better two way center with more defensive capabilities. both have different qualities.

If that's the best Pittsburgh can do then screw'em. Auction Kesler off at the draft using Bettman's podium. Would be more entertaining than anything the Canucks have done recently.

I could see Gillis excepting Sutter, Bennett and a 1st
Bob Mckenzie said today that the asking price is a young center, a prospect ( preferably a forward) and a first. Unfortunately that package looks close to the asking price.

Alright, but it's not exactly fair to compare Sutter at the age of 25 to a 22 year old Simmonds when he was traded, the fact that they're even somewhat comparable in that argument says a lot.

I appreciated your ideas, and I'm considering them before I put out the final suggestions.

I just think your punishments are too harsh.

And as you can see by the alarm it caused with a few managers, others agree.

People get busy and there are also occasional electronic malfunctions and errors that can cause people to miss a day.

There is no way we can employ a "one strike and you're out" kind of rule in a fun, casual pool.

Like I said, I'll make some final suggestions by tomorrow evening and we'll vote. Rules will be in place for next week.

If it's anything less than Sutter, Bennett, Pouliott/Depres, and a 1st, Gillis needs to pass, or be let go immediately.

Sutter topped out in the 09/10 season...he really isn't an attractive piece to any team especially in a deal for a player of Keslers caliber...anyone here would rather have Simmonds over Sutter playing for them, period....more physical, more offensive and an energizer...Sutter doesn't bring much that is desired
