If Luongo is traded today Cloutier might actually have to suit up as the back up.

Not saying I'm on board, but if Gillis resigns and isn't actually fired the I wonder if Aquilini would hire his right hand man to take over.

I think fans need to come to the realization that we're not getting much of anything back for Lou.

That would be a major over-payment by Washington.

I don't think Lu will get traded at all, but at the end of the day, he still is a very good goaltender with a very good cap hit. *ignores the length of the contract*

I forget how this works, but if he is traded and retires 3 years early, doesn't the cap hit penalty revert to the Canucks?

How does it work?

Florida is clearing cap space for the big trade. Luongo, Edler, Kesler for Huberdeau, Bujustad and Gudbrandson.

Pretty sure Vantel is the front runner...

Have you seen his work in the pool this year?

We can pretty much bank on getting at least 5 1st rounders in the 2015 draft—might as well start making the McDavid Canucks jerseys now...

I think if there is a change it will be the whole management team.

I'm not a math guy, but the Canucks would be saddled with a recapture cap hit based on the reaming cap hit minus the money owed or something like that.

Don't worry about it. That will be a problem for the next GM.

As you should be.

With two teams dissolving this is the year to take advantage of the draft.

What'd he say now?

These guys have very little influence on GM's thinking, don't kid yourself man. If GM's don't listen to thousands of fans then surely they don't give a poop about what Dreger says. Just ask Bryan Murray.

- Nucker101

He's saying Jordan Staal is available.

Could give some bargaining power to the likes of Pitts and Philly.

Maybe for Philly, but they're already stacked at center, only reason why they're in the Kesler sweeps is because they love Kesler big time and/or to drive up the price for Pitt. And do you really think Pitt and Car will basically reverse that deal?

Somewhere in there.

There should still be some good depth players or prospects in there at that point.

Why not lol, It would make Rutherferd* would like a tool, but apart from that, what are the consequences?

Carolina gets everything back plus an extra pick. Penguins get the guy they never wanted to move for the same price they were willing to sign him to.

But again, i think its just Dreger screwing around.

If it is the Canucks that are saddled with the recapture hit then what is it to the new team if they are not penalized?

Lou at 5.3mil is a bargain, actual salary may not be attractive to a small market... Washington sounds like a nice trade partner with a few more parts involved.

"Don't be surprised if Kesler ends up in CHI via a blind three way deal....... Lot going on behind scenes on this one!"

Blind three way eh....

We move Kes for scraps then he is subsequently moved to our rival for a kings ransom

seems strange and against the whole retool/rebuild thing. I guess unless it is for a proven top prospect in a package deal?

That, or maybe the injury is more severe then advertised
