Oh, I prefer they keep Jensen down.

Just surprised they feel Archie deserves a call up, because his play hasn't been good.

Pelletier or Feriero (sp?) have both been considerably better. There are a few others I'd bring up over him as well, based on recent play.

Yeah, keep Jensen down instead of bringing him into this mess right now IMO.

The Canucks have to make the call whether they are done or still in the playoff race. If they are in the hunt, then I guess you bring up either of the two if they are playing the best on the farm, but I am not sure if they are in any future plans. If they are out of the race, take a look at some of the kids that won't be ufa after this season.

I've seen some posters at HF mention that Gillis is pretty high on him, wonder where they got that info from. Was he high on the entry draft ranking list that went public a few years ago or something?

I say hold Kesler, wait until the draft when more teams have flexibility and you could have more desperate teams after playoff disappointments. But who knows what offers Gillis is getting right now, we can only speculate and I don't fully buy into this "only 4 teams that he'll go" stuff until I hear Lebrun/Mac/Freidman report it.

- Nucker101

If this team is going to tank do it right and let the season play out. Better to take our chances July 1st.

Especially when the offer is 1st, Despres, Sutter, I'm guessing Pitt would still do that at the draft....

That is unless one of those 4 remaining players that Gillis covets becomes available.

In Gillis we trust.

Props to Shero if these reported negotiations are legit, in the back of his mind he might already be willing to give up Pouliot, 1st and Sutter or something similar but is trying to see if he can get it done before it gets to that point. Well done.
- Nucker101

Only way I would want Gillis to take this deal is if a 4th piece was added. Something like another good prospect (Bennet or Dumoulin) or changing the 1st to 2015's deeper draft and adding their 2nd in 2015.

If they could do something like Kes + Hansen for Sutter, Pouliot, 2014 & 2015 1st + Dumoulin or Bennet that may not be so bad.

I think they would. I am really not that high on Sutter though.

Total low-ball offer but I imagine needed to have a starting point.

MG doesn't have to trade Kesler so he isn't exactly backed into a corner like Calgary was with Iginla which means Shero will have to improve on that offer if he wants Kesler bad enough.

MG would be an idiot to trade Kesler if the deal wasn't a grand slam..........poop, i don't like our odds.......

I don't trade Hansen at all. He's a serviceable 3rd liner with a very cap-friendly contract....

I don't think any deal with Pitts should get done unless names like Pouliot and Bennett are coming back. I mean, until they have any success in the NHL, there is no chance that they will ever play.....

Hansen has not flourished under torts. Is he going to be a key contributor to a cup run in 3 years? I'm not buying it. He is signed to a good contract thus he is valuable to other teams. Hopefully a player like Gaunce or Archibald can be Hansen's 3rd line replacement in a couple years. From my perspective they need to accumulate assets that could become key contributors for a few years from now.

Fair points.

This is just probably the most uninspired stretch of hockey I've seen from Archibald since he made the permanent jump to the AHL from the ECHL.

Just seems strange to reward him when his effort has been seriously lacking since he was sent back down.

I think I'm just reading into what is a pretty minor move here a bit too much...

Totally agree. Botch in his provies from yesterday's game indicated he thinks Gillis can hit a homerun with a Kes deal. There are multiple competing bidders that should help drive up the price. He hinted that Gillis and the management team are not assuredly back next year if they miss the playoffs.

I'd love them to do something similar to buffalo. Bring in a highly respected figure like Quinn or Gretz to be 'President of Hockey Operations' or something like that. They can hire a new GM and help give guidance to the big picture for the team. Maybe even Quinn and Linden...

"I might feel differently if I had a little more faith in the Canucks' scouting, drafting and player development. The Canucks haven't generated a full-time NHL player from the draft since—yep—Cody Hodgson in 2008. I'd say Schroeder and Frank Corrado are still on the bubble. With that in mind, I'm not convinced it matters where we draft"

Carol, I think you are taking too narrow a view on this.

Players like Chris Tanev and Eddy Lack are certainly NHL'ers, as is Ryan Stanton, so I would say that Scouting and Player development may not be as bad as you make it out to be. Drafting...well, just ask Lefty about that

Our lack of depth exposed again with Hansen playing much of the year on the 2nd line when he is a 3rd liner.

Would have thought that Hansen would be Tort' kind of player.

Any chance of Hansen getting us better players in a larger trade deal has to be considered. He is replaceable.

With the team slowly sinking and the obvious need for change or some catalyst to get it going, any move that is made begs the question whether it is part of some solution by management or just playing out the stretch with significant changes - if at all, happening in the summer and or at the draft.

Management has put the team on set it and forget it cruise control.
