The teams are apparently DET, CHI, PIT, and PHI.

Would love to see what some of these offers really are. It would be interesting to see Kesler traded to Florida for a crazy package and Lou remain.

Even though he didn't ask for a trade, someone somehow managed to get a copy of the teams he'd go to IF he was asking for a trade...

I think any Canucks player that wants out should be happy to go to a different city not named Edmonton, Calgary or Ottawa.

There really has not been a substantiated list yet. Different people say different things... Kes went to school in Ohio and his wife is from there. They somehow sold Horton and Gaborik so maybe they can sell Kes too?

There were reports today that Kes may not want to go to Chicago because Kes's current business ventures in Vancouver and being traded to a 'rival' would hurt those.


Do we really see Chicago as a bitter rival? We won't be meeting them in the conference final Don't see how we can be bitter rivals when they win a couple cups and we haven't and won't in the immediate future.

It has to be a bit frustrating for GM's to be restricted in what teams they can trade a player to but I guess they are party to the contracts.

I can't see this being an Iggy situation again like last TDL. Iggy could basically say Frank off Calgary you can't touch me. I'm an idol in this city and I get the choice in a couple month anyways. If you want assets this is the deal I want.

Kes tries the same thing and Gillis laughs and says enjoy missing the playoffs this year. Then coming back to play for us next year. Don't want to report? We'll toll your contract like the Islanders did to nabby.

The situations are apples and organges. If I'm Gillis I say to kes give me your list of places you are willing to play for. Sign the waiver and then I'll try and move you. Because we like and respect you if there are deals in which we don't have a preference we will give you the option. If you leak the list we won't trade you.
Essentially if Kes tries to pull an iggy Gillis can punish him for a couple years. It would get ugly but Kes wants to win and play. You can take both from him for a couple years.

And just like you are saying, this could go on for a couple years- as long as the contract is or until he gets moved.

The Canucks and Lou really made a mess of his situation.

Carol, I think you are taking too narrow a view on this.

Players like Chris Tanev and Eddy Lack are certainly NHL'ers, as is Ryan Stanton, so I would say that Scouting and Player development may not be as bad as you make it out to be. Drafting...well, just ask Lefty about that

Take Stanton off that list, he was developed by the Blackhawks. We just got lucky to grab him off of waivers. He was a good grab though.

I've been saying it all along that I would not be surprised if the Flyers aren't in this with a serious offer, I hope Gillis holds until the draft unless someone offers something better than Pitt can/has.

There is a ton of misinformation being disseminated by the teams right now through their local reporters. Local guys reporter says team not in the Kes sweepstakes. Guy from another place says they are. National says they are then aren't. So much noise tough as a fan to figure out what has substance and what does not. Each team is playing their own game....

We are more likely to see nothing happen than Gillis settle for something that doesn't readily improve the club.

Kesler is not my favorite player, but if we don't get some scoring coming back then there isn't any need to make the trade.
