Why does it bother you so much that I don't drink the same koolaid you do?
- Flyersgod

I'm valuing players based on watching them and reading about them. You base your evaluations on nothing. Yesterday, you said Ghost wasn't anything special and wasn't having a good year. He's a candidate for the Hobey Baker!

But Schenn's a better player than Kesler as of this moment.
- jmatchett383

not saying he's not ... just saying that I can easily see Homer trying to pull off a big trade, knowing it might be his last chance to do so.

Not defensively, not on faceoffs. Kesler is better than Schenn right now, but that doesn't mean I want to trade for him.

I just don't like it. I like what I have seen out of Meszaros lately. I'm afraid that if we trade him, or don't resign him, we are going to see him be a nice addtion to another team's top 4. This is a guy that is recovering from 2.5 years of injuries and he is starting to look as good or even better then the guy he used to be.

Again with Downie, what you get back is no-where near the value that he gives you as a depth player. Unless you are moving Mez and Downie to bring in players like MacDonald and Hemsky for a playoff run, I dont see much reason to trade them.

- SchennBros

I don't have a problem keeping Mez if they think he's apart of the blue-line long term. I'm just not sure he is.

Downie definitely has value because of his age. I'd much rather move him and get value, as he's not a 10-13 forward ideally. That's the way he's playing right now though. Way to many bad penalties. If you CAN get value, I say you move him.

But I'm not against keeping either of these two. You aren't going to get much better in a trade anyway, so might as well keep them for depth. All your doing is changing up the mix. However, sometimes that's all a team needs and it can be well worth it in some instances.

If he isn't healthy after the three week Olympic break he won't be healthy this season.

that's quite possible

In that case, we could probably trade Giroux for McGrattan. That would be quite a deal too.

Yeah, he's an upgrade today, but the $ (aka other players) that would need to leave to make it work would offset any gains.

And long term? A 1st, Schenn and a prospect? You've got to be kidding me, it's a freaking disaster, especially once Kesler's body really starts falling apart.

I know. And Morin becomes Grossmann. Laughton becomes Madden. Hagg becomes a bigger Gus and Ghost never makes it to the NHL.
- PhillySportsGuy

might as well close up shop, what's the point.

No, but as a scorer he is, and his line is really clicking right now.

I agree. Kesler is very good player right now. He has an injury history and the Flyers aren't build to win now.

If they want to improve their forwards, they should move Vinny for nothing and acquire a true winger to play with Schenn.

If they trade Schenn for Kesler, I can't wait to see Schenn blossom without Briere or Vinny saddled to his hip.

I think he's just upset that you (and some other people cough2Realcough) sometimes bet on the low ceiling of all of their picks as opposed to the high.

Speaking of Ghost, John Buccigross reallly likes the kid. Thinks he will be a good player.

As a team, you should always leave a little room to make moves and bring players up and down.

Imagine if this Flyers team didn't have the space to play Raffl?

You need to account for the unknown.

- PhillySportsGuy

The Flyers always account for the unknown. No team can make unlimited moves and add unlimited players.

Yes. Technically, none do. Chris Pronger never reached his full potential because he didn't ever score 40 goals. But if one of Morin/Hagg/Alt/Ghost comes close to their potential, they'll be great additions.

What is the love affair some of you have with Downie? Trade him for a solid 4th liner? Name one team that has any interest in taking a player who can't check his way out of a paper bad without getting penalized? A player that mindlessly skates around with that "where the hell am I" look. You can't and won't get anything for him because he has been virtually useless for this team. Some of you many comments ago talking about Upshall being traded and moved alot and there has to be a reason for that. If Downie plays somewhere else this year or next season, it will be the 4th time he has moved in 7 years. What does that tell you? That he is just misunderstood? He hasn't found the right system? Or the fact that he is a liability on the ice and he will never be that player he was during that one fluke season with the bolts.
