Isn't it like 99% of all players fail to reach their full potential? - Flyersgod
99%? That would equal about 2 players meeting expectations out of every draft.
Odds are long, yes, but not that long. |

In that case, we could probably trade Giroux for McGrattan. That would be quite a deal too. - jmatchett383
we'd probably need to toss in a 2nd to sweeten the pot. |

No I said he wasn't lighting it up. Never said he was having a bad year. - Flyersgod
Well then what is "lighting it up" for a college defenseman like him? What isn't he doing? |

might as well close up shop, what's the point. - -davies-
You guys have unrealistic expectations for these guys. That does more damage to a developing player than undervaluing him does.

it was linked on TSN, if that counts. |

Yea. If you're expectations are that every player drafted will be a top pairing defenseman, #1 goalie or top line forward, then 99% seems accurate. |

I can see this happening ... if only because Homer knows there's a fair chance that he's a goner after this year.
I doubt he wants to sit on his hands, and would rather go out with a bang. - FlyerGuy
So why does eveyone think that its either Schenn or Couturier going? It could be Simmonds or Voracek considering Kesler can play RW as well. |

Hagg is projected as a top-4 defenseman. Ghost is projected as a top-4 puck mover who is a PP specialist. Morin is a wild card who already looked like he blonged (granted, it was preseason). I don't think those are outlandish expectations. |

They're not odds. It's life.
That doesn't take into count the players who scouts say are worthless and than become great players.

If you read the article you will see some pretty amazing quotes..
One month after Hobey Baker Award favorite Johnny Gaudreau netted three points against his team, the coach of the 10th-ranked team in college hockey sent the sport buzzing with his words.
For Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute coach Seth Appert, his press conference wasn't a shot at Gaudreau, the Boston College star from Gloucester Catholic High. It was just his opinion.
Appert couldn't help but gush about a Flyers draft pick after being torched by his Union College team twice in one weekend.

What is the love affair some of you have with Downie? Trade him for a solid 4th liner? Name one team that has any interest in taking a player who can't check his way out of a paper bad without getting penalized? A player that mindlessly skates around with that "where the hell am I" look. You can't and won't get anything for him because he has been virtually useless for this team. Some of you many comments ago talking about Upshall being traded and moved alot and there has to be a reason for that. If Downie plays somewhere else this year or next season, it will be the 4th time he has moved in 7 years. What does that tell you? That he is just misunderstood? He hasn't found the right system? Or the fact that he is a liability on the ice and he will never be that player he was during that one fluke season with the bolts. - Daveflyers36
i think when healthy he's a useful addition to the team, adding him to the couturier read line started the comeback from the basement for the flyers. that line singlehandedly got them several points in the standings.
on the flipside of the "love affair", there is the abject loathing of a guy who is certainly not at 100% after one maybe two concussions in a brief timespan. i mean, someone actually rage-quit this site because the flyers got him back...

That's so much more comforting.
And someone reported it from ESPN that it was Schenn. |

I think I might be done with Homer if we get Ryan Kesler.
If were moving assets like Brayden Schenn, who should arguably be untouchable, we better be getting a high caliber dman. At the very worst, get someone for Giroux's wing if it must be a forward. But my god, not ANOTHER center. We have plenty.
I don't like this right now. |

The flyers are going to blow this. They will be older, more expensive, and more brittle after the deadline and whoever doesn't think so obviously doesn't know the flyers |

My expectations for Ghost are third pairing defenseman and PP point man.
My expectations for Laughton are 2nd/3rd line center who can score 40-50 points, play good defense and kill penalties.
My expectations for Couturier are shutdown center who can score 50-60 points
My expectations for Morin are top 4 shutdown defenseman who can score 20-25 points.
I have no expectations for Hagg or Alt. I just hope they can develop into top 6 defenseman and help the team.
My expectations for B. Schenn are #2C who can score around 60 points.
Are these unreasonable? |

Except the reason, or at least one of them, why Kesler wants out of Vancouver is because he moved to wing. |

So before they play a lick of professional hockey.. we already have a solid projection?
I use to get excited over draft picks etc. Most of it is all hype. That's all I'm saying.
I'll believe when I see it. |
