If you read the article you will see some pretty amazing quotes..
One month after Hobey Baker Award favorite Johnny Gaudreau netted three points against his team, the coach of the 10th-ranked team in college hockey sent the sport buzzing with his words.
For Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute coach Seth Appert, his press conference wasn't a shot at Gaudreau, the Boston College star from Gloucester Catholic High. It was just his opinion.
Appert couldn't help but gush about a Flyers draft pick after being torched by his Union College team twice in one weekend.
"I think Shayne Gostisbehere is the best player in the country," - jak521
Are we still clinging to this quote from some tech school coach from 4 months ago?

I don't think our opinions really impact their development at all. - BulliesPhan87
I disagree. Pavel Brendl told me that he was never able to bring it all together here because the fan base thought he would be better with a magnet than with a fishers lamp. |

So why does eveyone think that its either Schenn or Couturier going? It could be Simmonds or Voracek considering Kesler can play RW as well. - SchennBros
If Simmer or Jake is traded I will be sick.
Especially Simmer.

That's so much more comforting.
And someone reported it from ESPN that it was Schenn. - jmatchett383

So before they play a lick of professional hockey.. we already have a solid projection?
I use to get excited over draft picks etc. Most of it is all hype. That's all I'm saying.
I'll believe when I see it. - Flyersgod
If that's the case, why do GMs and teams put together draft commitees? Just throw the name of every draft eligible player into a hat and draw names. |

Not clinging to anything.. It was from an article dated February 21, 2014.
Union is the 3rd ranked team in the NCAA and they are admittedly led by Ghost. |

Hmm, explains Gustafsson's struggles. We keep saying he won't improve if he's scratched, and it keeps coming true! |

My expectations for Ghost are third pairing defenseman and PP point man. - PhillySportsGuy
Maybe this is the kool-aid or the blonging talking, but I consider Ghost our best shot at a top-4 two-way dman... I'm 100% on his bandwagon. |

Someone got a vanishing text from ESPN that the Flyers had a deal in place for Kesler that included (yes, INCLUDED) Schenn. |

Is this sarcasm? You wouldn't trade for a #1 dman like Buff b/c of a 3rd line forward like Matt Read? - flyguy12
No way in hell would I trade Matt Read for Byfuglien. I also disagree that he's a #1 defenseman. |

My expectations for Ghost are third pairing defenseman and PP point man.
My expectations for Laughton are 2nd/3rd line center who can score 40-50 points, play good defense and kill penalties.
My expectations for Couturier are shutdown center who can score 50-60 points
My expectations for Morin are top 4 shutdown defenseman who can score 20-25 points.
I have no expectations for Hagg or Alt. I just hope they can develop into top 6 defenseman and help the team.
My expectations for B. Schenn are #2C who can score around 60 points.
Are these unreasonable? - PhillySportsGuy
Who the Hell are we to know if it is or isn't?
I gave my opinion, you gave yours. Attempting to prove opinions wrong is a fools errand.

Trade rumors lit up when OTT staff seen meeting with Conacher/Corvo short while ago. No trade but won't be surprised if they're on waivers.
Both of those guys on waivers? |

If he can transition his college game to the NHL and cut down on his roving, that's what he'd be. |

If they are trading BSchenn he better be playing LW with Vinny moved back to center. |

i think when healthy he's a useful addition to the team, adding him to the couturier read line started the comeback from the basement for the flyers. that line singlehandedly got them several points in the standings.
on the flipside of the "love affair", there is the abject loathing of a guy who is certainly not at 100% after one maybe two concussions in a brief timespan. i mean, someone actually rage-quit this site because the flyers got him back... - -davies-
That was over 2 months ago and Downie has done nothing positive since. I would buy the "injury" arguement if he was just playing bad defensively and or offensively. But he is playing stupid hockey that costs this team by taking stupid not lazy penalties. Alot of you want to keep him based on 9 games this year. Sorry but you can't sell that to another team and those 9 games don't deserve a new contract for next year either. |

Conacher, a one-dimensional forward who's had little success at the NHL level, is set to hit waivers?
Edmonton's entire staff can't wait. |

So what you're saying is we actively influence the development of a player, but we can't reasonably forecast their potential. Got it. |
